<!--poll-->(CBS4) MIAMI Die-hard football fans attending the Super Bowl game at Dolphin Stadium are getting a rude awakening after finding out that no tailgating of any type will be allowed on game day within one mile of the stadium.

"There is no tailgating allowed in the Dolphin Stadium parking lots," Sue Jaquez, a member of the Super Bowl XLI Host Committee, confirmed on Tuesday. "And there is no tailgating anywhere within a one-mile radius of the stadium." "And there are no RVs allowed."

Tailgating is permitted during regular- and post-season games for Dolphins fans, a team official on Tuesday said it would indeed be allowed at the Super Bowl. According to Jaquez, however, the official has been seriously misinformed.

The Dolphins do not organize and oversee the Super Bowl, Jaquez pointed out. Instead, those duties are left up to NFL officials. And because of security reasons, no pre-game partying on (or very near) the premises will take place. Fans spotted tailgating could face charges, Jaquez said.

"This is part of the NFL, not the Dolphins," Jaquez said. "If the Dolphins are saying there's tailgating -- or think it's going to be allowed -- then they need to contact the NFL."

Detective Nelda Fonticella of the Miami-Dade Police confirmed the Super Bowl rules.

If caught grilling or consuming alcohol within that one-mile radius of Dolphins Stadium, fans initially "will be warned and asked to pick up their things and leave," Fonticella said. "We're trying to make this a pleasant experience for everyone, and there will be plenty to do in the week leading up to the game."

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

Quite possibly the best tailgating that parking lot/staduim ever witnessed was the USC/IOWA Orange Bowl a few years ago.....................as there were literally 50,000+ Iowa fans in the lot by 12:45 for the 8pm start(gates opened at noon).

WTF.. your under arrest for tailgating??:ughhh:

I went to the super bowl at The Rose Bowl back in 1981 between the Steelers and Rams and we had a great time tailgating. I had a VW Van and along with two other couples we parked between two big RVs from Pittsburg and partied all day until the game started late in the afternoon.

I don't get it what is the harm in letting fans enjoy themselves in the parking lot before the game?

wil.

I'm sure they only want people with tickets within the mile radius too. Guess these are the new rules of freedom.

How many were wearing the official Iowa fan gear?

Jean shorts (No belt)
Black high tops
Yellow shirt

There isn't supposed to be any tailgating within a 3 mile radius of the stadium.
I'm going to a Bears tailgate at some park in Hollywood Florida

Why would the NFL let you bring your own food and drink when there are inflated concession prices insde the stadium.

The NFL is all about money, why do you think Pitts won the game last year?

Tell you why, there was more market value selling Steller garb than Seattle garb.

Might want to put the Payton Manning marketing value into your handicapping?

No tailgating at Superbowl

How the NFL has destroyed what was once an event for fans.

NO TAILGATING AT THE SUPER BOWL
Folks attending next weekend's Super Bowl in Miami should leave the Hibachi at home. Or, at a minimum, one mile away from the stadium.
CBS 4 in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale reports that tailgating is a no-no for Super Sunday.
"There is no tailgating allowed in the Dolphin Stadium parking lots," Sue Jaquez, a member of the Super Bowl XLI Host Committee, told CBS 4. "And there is no tailgating anywhere within a one-mile radius of the stadium."
Also, leave the RVs at home. They're not allowed, either.
Apparently, there has been a discrepancy between the Dolphins and the league regarding whether tailgating would be allowed. A team official told CBS 4 on Tuesday that tailgating was permitted; Jaquez says otherwise.
"This is part of the NFL, not the Dolphins," Jaquez said. "If the Dolphins are saying there's tailgating -- or think it's going to be allowed -- then they need to contact the NFL."
Jaquez said that persons who violate the rule could face charges.
Detective Nelda Fonticella of the Miami-Dade Police said that the rule will be enforced, but indicated that folks will have a chance to shut down. Anyone caught grilling or consuming alcohol within one mile of the stadium "will be warned and asked to pick up their things and leave."
"We're trying to make this a pleasant experience for everyone, and there will be plenty to do in the week leading up to the game," Fonticella said.
The stated reason is security. Coincidentally, there surely will be plenty of food and booze available, for a fee, in and around the stadium.

The NFL is saying it is for security but this is a bunch of bullshit. Trying to suck every last dollar out of everyone.

Three weeks ago it was announced that they weren't going to allow tailgating at the BCS Championship game. Everybody was tailgating outside. I got there over 3 hours early and had a tailgate party.

? When my friends and I went into the parking lot, we asked the attendents if we could tailgate and they had no problem with it.
