I placed a wager at Nine.com today, and this mssg. popped up in a box:

I SEE THAT YOU TRIED TO DO A DEPOSIT IN YOUR ACCT BUT HAD NO LUCK, I AM ABLE TO RUN THAT DEPOSIT FOR YOU AND GIVE YOU A NICE CASH, CALL ME AT 1-800-XXX-XXXX EXT XXXX TONY

I haven't tried to do a deposit there in several weeks (although I'm actively playing there and enjoying it), and this mssg. seems a bit creepy to me. I see that Nine.com is pretty trusted around here and even sponsors a forum, so I'm wondering if anyone from Nine cares to explain this, or what fellow posters think of this.

Am I just paranoid, or is this strange?

I definitely would not trust it. You can call Nine.com CSD and ask them if they have any knowledge of a Tony and this bonus or whatever it is.

Did your deposit work a few weeks ago? I remember a Tony from when I played there.....but let us know if you figure anything out.

If that is the case then it may be legit. The Big Fish says he hasn't tried to deposit in several weeks and that is what made me a bit suspicious. I would still verify something like this with any sportsbook if the deal called me me sending funds to anywhere different than the regular places I have used in the past at that book.

Correct, I have not deposited there (or attempted) in many weeks, so maybe they simply send out that mssg to players suffering failed deposit attempts, and mistook me for one. Gonna call now and inquire....

OK, seems legit. I called the 800 number, and it was VIP's main number. I spoke to CS, and explained what happened. The dude, although nice, seemed clueless, and offered to connect me to Tony at that extension. I next spoke with Tony himself who told me it was a glitch, intended for persons who recently tried but failed to make a deposit. Understandable.

FWIW, before we hung up, I asked him how deposits and withdrawals had been going since the Neteller fiasco, and he said it's business as usual through WU, Moneygram, and CCs for depositing, and that one can withdraw in the same way, or receive an EFT into your checking account or have a check FedExed to you.

I hope these guys stick around. Always enjoyed playing at Nine.com.
