POKER will be taking a major hit from the government and for other reasons I have stated for over 5 years on this forum and that is that winning at poker is not as easy as many thought it would be...........and in fact, the vast majority will LOSE at.-FH-PS- A well known pro just stated that without endorsements/sponsors, as high as 80% of the high profile players you see on TV would be broke.

I never thought winning at poker would be easy or was easy, mainly because I never won any money at poker.:103631605 Damn I suck at that game.

I always wondered how so many people were claiming to make a liveing from playing poker. It makes sense that sponsorships were the real money makers for the "pros".

Good. Maybe these self-styled 'pros' will have to play in real cash games and earn their money instead of playing in tournaments and selling their 'persona' to the uninformed and superficial.

I would say they are in trouble.

As soon as Pokerstars, and Fulltilt, leave the sponser scene, that will be the real test.

I have played in quite a few cash games and tournys, I have ran into more "pros" than you could believe. The thing is these people are not making any money from sponsors, they are just full of shit. Everyone that you meet nowadays at a poker table plays poker for a living. It is to the point where it is just funny how many people are dying to make a living playing poker. Probably 1% of poker players are good enough and lucky enough to play poker for their only source of income. I play for fun. I may drop like $50 playing a low limit game and take it as my entertainment for the evening.

There's an old saying regarding making money at poker.

10% of the players win 90% of the money. Think about that one.
