I will update the windows emulator to Vista probably, just to stay with new technology. Will stick with Ubuntu as the main OS.

if you are someone that cant live without having the latest crap then go for it ...............AND then pay the price (have to rebuy a bunch of software that works under vista.....expensive hardware upgrades or a new computer altogether....bugs /sites that wont work with the latest/greatest......new security holes)

I am afraid that microsoft made the ultimate mistake......they have several operating systems that work fine and dont need an upgrade (unlike win98/me to windows 2k/xp which was a NECESSARY upgrade)

Vista does seem to add a lot of new technology to the gamer, from the industry demos I've been privy to.

Dear,

You may have heard about the upcoming release of Microsoft's new operating system, Windows Vista. Microsoft has made significant changes to how software runs on Windows Vista.

No, I don't see the benefit for me.

XP is running fine for me, plus from what I have read, Vista runs slower even with 2 GB of RAM.

This may not directly be related to you, but ...

If you run your own small business, you should outsource your payroll. Quickbooks is a good accounting package, but it is an ok payroll piece.

No need to take chances when it comes to paying the employees in a timely manner!

I'm not about to upgrade on a 2 year old computer. I'll end up with nothing but a major headache. Even if I felt that the new OS would run smoothly, I always think it's a good idea to wait a couple of months until some of the bugs have been fixed. I'll wait until I get a new PC.

I'm going to wait to see just how involved the NSA was with the security of Vista before buying. They've done a significant amount of "free work" for Microsoft to "help shore up vulnerabilities". I just wonder if by vulnerabilities they mean:

- a bad piece of code that allows remote users access to your system, or

- a bad piece of code that allows the NSA full access to your encrypted data.

hmmmm... personally, I can't trust an agency that believes it has full rights to your cell phone and email communications.

I've installed it a few weeks ago and I have barely used it. My aging 2ghz/1gig RAM machine is choking on it, which is just unacceptable IMO.

I have to. The next generation of PC gaming and the new Direct X 10 depend on Vista. Plus, all those cool new sound effects. ;)

If you dont game, it's probably not a big deal. But it will be a good idea at some point as all security updates will be Vista focused.

All the other versions of windows will become more breachable and Microsoft will tell you tough luck, if you werent using Vista. It's how you run a monopoly.

Would you like to explain the benefits of gaming on Vista as opposed to another operating system?

I don't know about these things.

I don't game that often (anymore) but a couple times a week I'll open the rusty steam account and play some CS or DoD on Source to kill some time.
