Even if I felt that the new OS would run smoothly, I always think it's a good idea to wait a couple of months until some of the bugs have been fixed. I'll wait until I get a new PC.

If you dont game, it's probably not a big deal. But it will be a good idea at some point as all security updates will be Vista focused.
All the other versions of windows will become more breachable and Microsoft will tell you tough luck, if you werent using Vista. It's how you run a monopoly.
