Thinking I'll retire from this online stuff for awhile. The stress is too much right now.

I dealt poker for 3 years, but that was in the early-mid 90's. It wasn't that bad then, and is probably a lot more fun now with all the new faces coming onto poker the last 10 years. I have a decent BR saved and would like to go back to dealing & playing for now.

Anyone know of a good spot where I can get an audition ? I prefer the South and West.

If you're interested a friend of mine told that canterburypark is a pretty good job and always looking for good dealers. I just can't handle the weather up there.

Try the TAMPA area......

1. DERBY LANE/TAMPA DOGTRACKS
2. TAMPA DOWNS
3. HARD ROCK CASINO

The dealers I know here in town all do fairly well and it is a fairly low stress environment here in Florida............and NON-SMOKING.

Poster 5teamparlay is a dealer at the Hard Rock and he would be the one you should consider gaining the most info from on this subject.

We need some dealers here in Louisiana bad.

Some of these dealers do not even know basic math.

You have to constantly correct them.

The pay is probably lower than normal thou.

If you can get in a cardroom that recently opened.... the dealers usually get better tips for the first few years. It takes a while for new players to realize the effect of the rake on the games. By the time they do, most are broke. You can expect to see 30-40% better tips in the first year than in year 4.

I have never dealt but have been playing for 30 years. And every new game and room I have played in...this is the case. ,,,GL

Several of my poker dealer buddies seem to think that newly opened Native American casinos offer the best opportunities.
They also believe that mindlessly betting on anything is a good idea also, so you may want to take this with a grain of salt.

dealers down here making a killing from my personal experience...i watch these dealers get tipped, at minimum, a buck per hand that is dealt. They are probably dealing between 25-40 hands an hour.

Like Fish said, Hard Rock in TAMPA.

The games are very small though, 1/2 dollar limit, but are extremely fishy so every pot is a (relatively speaking of course) big pot.

I always see $2 dollars a hand being tipped (well, the 3-4 times I've been there).

I thought it was smoking, but I guess I'm wrong or they changed it.

Tampa area is a great place to live if you choose the right spots (NEW TAMPA, CLEARWATER).

Pro, that sounds pretty good. What casino or casinos do you recommend ? I've been calling around and some areas have long lists, even for getting an audition.

The best method is to just find a place you like, go there and start playing. Then ask for an extra board position. I am just trying to figure out what my best 3 or 4 options are. I didn't know Tampa well at all and I would have a hard time earning in money at $1/ $2 limits while waiting to get hired on. I really want to add in the option of playing.

Fucnluc, tThanks for the living area suggestions. That is some thing I always consider. It's what makes most of CA really tough (huge rent and mortgage payments) for a poker player/dealer.

In Oklahoma, there are over 80 Indian casinos, and almost everyone of them deal poker. Some of the newer places are huge. Good Luck

You might want to try Canterbury (St.Paul/Minneapolis,MN) The deep freeze will be over soon. LOL
Dealers can also PLAY there.

$2/4-$30/60 ... almost any limit you can imagine ... 35 tables. The games are action and the place is fun.
