BOSTON - Several illuminated electronic devices planted at bridges and other spots in Boston threw a scare into the city Wednesday in what turned out to be a publicity campaign for a late-night cable cartoon. Most if not all of the devices depict a character giving the finger.

Peter Berdovsky, 27, of Arlington, was arrested on one felony charge of placing a hoax device and one charge of disorderly conduct, state Attorney General Martha Coakley said later Wednesday. He had been hired to place the devices, she said.

Highways, bridges and a section of the Charles River were shut down and bomb squads were sent in before authorities declared the devices were harmless.

The best part is it took them 12 hours to figure out and announce they weren't bombs...

I mean - sure, take a look when you see flashing lights and wires by a bridge, but the average 8 year old could tell you they were a toy in 2 minutes.

They are charging two people with inciting panick. If I were their lawyer, I would turn around with a citizens arrest and charge the officials with inciting panick. They just put up a toy!

Let's not forget that the two planes that slammed into the Twin Towers
originated from Boston. This is a very sensitive issue! You can ridicule the police all you want but the placement of these devices (under a bridge for one) is what alarmed the general public as well as the police. With wires hanging from some of them of course some people are going to see this as a potential bomb threat. Believe me the mayor is one pissed off guy. At the very least, TBS should have given the authorities a heads up.

You people are idiots - overreacting to everything. You get what you deserve - the police are IDIOTS - if it took that long to figureout that it wasn't a bomb. The police should ERR on the side of sensibility, not ERROR(sic) on side of ridiculous. Your war on terror is as pathetic and misguided as your war on drugs - after 20 years of "war", drugs are cheaper. After your war on terror, I imagine terror will be wide spread - evidently it already is... .

Exactly.....The toys were discovered at 1:00 p.m...................At 11:00 p.m. They are still plastering it all over cable news that the components found look like those used to make a bomb.

The workers should not be the ones arrested.

What a propaganda machine.

Well I guess the good news is that this means our government's war on gambling is going to eventually result in more offshore sportsbooks with better lines.

Mooninites unite! Seriously this is hilarious, I own all the box sets of ATHF and Ignignot and Ur are my favorite characters. The episode where they steal the Journey belt that hypnotizes people is one of the greatest things ever

This is one of the episodes with the Mooninites. If you don't like it the first time, smoke a bowl and watch it a second time.

yes the Boston police screwed this up big time. These devices were up for three weeks before being "discovered". The devices were also put up in other cities like new york, chicago, and a few others. nothing happened in those cities.
What a disgrace these guys might be charged with a felony.
