To say the Bears have a below average QB, are weak against the run without Harris, have major problems at safety without Brown, and that they are not as good as 4-6 AFC teams may all be true. And the media experts are saying all these things. But it is disrepecting the Bears.
What I hate is the experts pointing out all the weaknesses of the Bears, then complaining that the Bears players and coaches are inaccurate in their rantings about being disrespected. ESPN is the worst at this. Every NFL expert on their network picked the Saints in Chicago. I thought the Saints would win too. But to have everyone of them to pick against the #1 seed at home vs. a dome team is definately a major sign of disrespect. Then they say they are tired of the Bears saying they still have a lot to prove. What?????????
I think it all stems from the beginning of the season when Fox, NBC, and ESPN were comparing this Bears team to the '85 Bears. They did this for their own self interests. Ratings. The coaches and players never made these comparisons. Their fans and media did, but they didn't.
Then when their weaknesses and injuries began to be exposed, everyone then said that the Bears weren't good enough to win the NFC. First they annointed the Cowboys, then the Eagles, then the Saints. Again, I agreed with most of those thoughts, but if you're a Bears player you have to see that as not being respected.
Maybe having great special teams, a turnover causing defense, and an average offense is enough to win it all. And if they somehow beat the Colts the experts will blame Peyton or that the Bears were lucky. Oh well...
