Towards the end of the month the wife and I plan on taking Mr Binky away and are dreading that day (me atleast) The reason for the end of the month is cause we are going camping around that date and when we get back the Binky goes BYE BBYE...

The boy is already "pimping us out" left and right for the B. He now goes to bed with atleast 2 binkies, but we have atleast limited the binky to naps and bed time and sometimes when he's sick or he "pimp's us out"

Some say let them have it as long as they want, they will only goto the thumb?

Any advice from those who have gone through this would be much appreciated.

I would let him grow out of it when he's ready to. It's not like he's going to have one until he's 15.

Gonna be doing the same thing when our son turns 2 in May. Recently cut back to just naps and bedtime. Otherwise, it's out of sight and out of mind. Good luck.

Did it the same way when our daughter was about 18 months (naps and night only for awhile). A neighbor had told her daughter the bunnies (wild ones that sometimes ran around our neighborhood) needed them for their babies. WTF, we thought and tried it. We sprinkled them around the yard with her before bed and she saw they were gone the next day. She bought it. IMO the important things were that we let her know a few days in advance and once they were gone, they WERE GONE. She asked about them for a few days and we always reminded her that the baby bunnies had them because she was a big girl now. After a few days she quit mentioning them and never took up the thumb.

Good luck.

for what it's worth.. my ex-girlfriend had her thumbs soaked in tobassco sauce as a deterent for thumb sucking as a kid. to this day she has one of the most unbelieveable fixations on tobassco that you could ever imagine. she puts it on anything and everything. whoever the world renowned chef is that may have prepared her dinner can go F himself for all she cares. she won't even taste the finest of cuisines without a bottle of tobassco at hand. i think your "binky goes bye bye" will be much less affecting.. just don't go nuts !

(that's right - I just used the proper "affect" vs. "effect") i think

What we did was at Christmas said Santa was coming with toys and trucks for you but you have to leave Santa your binky so he can give it to another baby. My son said I get trucks? Yes but you have to leave your binky for Santa for another baby to use. Binky in the trash can and he was estatic about the trucks. Worked like a charm!!! He would have that thing in like 6 hours a day too.

its a sucker for the mouth of a baby with a nipple on it to keep them quiet and quench there urge to suckle

....when you become an adult man or (women in some cases) we use womens tits as binkys

let him keep it until he grows out of it. It doesn't hurt anything or anybody does it?

actually forget what I said. I thought you were talking about a blanket. The binky needs to go.

I didn't know either until I read the explanations.

Swear to God, that when I first read the sentence

"My son will be losing his binky come the end of February, Satin may come to visit? "

I thought it meant = "My son will be losing his virginity come the end of February ..."

Like the concerned father overheard a plot of decadence being planned by his son & friends.

Polaris :puppy: .

When I read the thread I thought it was a blanket. I got kids but never heard of a binky.
