I've posed this trivia to at least 100 so called knowledgeable NBA fans and no one has ever answered correctly.......They've even called me names saying I don't know what I'm talking about.....Try to answer without looking it up first...."WHAT FORMER LAKER WAS DRAFTED #1 OVERALL IN THE SAME YEAR THAT LARRY BIRD WAS DRAFTED BY THE CELTICS?"

Yea...he wasn't drafted by the Lakers (Portland), but he played for the Lakers during his career.

He was actually a very good player too. His first 3 seasons in the league were pretty awesome:

Rookie year: 14.7 pts, 8.3 rebs
2nd year: 17.0 pts, 8.7 rebs
3rd year: 20.8 pts, 11.7 rebs

He played his first 7 years with Portland. Not nearly the bust most people make him out to be.

He didn't have a Larry Bird career, but he was productive.

Remember though Bird was drafted a year early...he didn't come out til 1979, drafted #6 in the 1978 draft..it's somewhat of a trick question.

Just a HUGE GUESS..........MICHEAL THOMPSON?
Good guess, especially w/o looking it up.As you can guess, everyone before guessed "Magic Johnson"......They couldn't believe it.... some even called me ignorant and that I didn't know anything about the NBA. Seriously took me an hour to convince them that I was right. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha!
