My friend who owns a restaurant wants me to come down to his place on Sunday and put one together. He doesn't want to do it for legal reasons, but what would be the difference if I put it together? It's still gambling in his place, right?

I thought it was OK if no house cut. I doubt it causes trouble.

I'm sure technically this is also illegal...I wonder how many govt employees will participate in a Super Bowl block pool across the good ole USA?

That's what I always thought. As long as there's no sort of vig it's ok.

Let me know if you need a sheet made up. I run quite a few of these at my work (for news information only, of couse) and I save my sheets. I like to go all out on these. I could email you one. Just have the mods give me your email address. This is an example of one where the numbers change each quarter.

Tony, its my understanding that if you pay out all of what was taken in,its no problem. The problem enters if the pay-out is over a certain amount (600.00???) the government may want to see tax forms (1099's???).All in all they usually dont bother the smaller pools.I've been running one in my club for 26 years and never been bothered (knock on wood) although the largest pool i run is 50.00 a square.Thy usually take more of an interest in the 1000.00 a box type pools.Best of luck!
