Manning deserved to be MVP

GoGo is not surprised many were disappointed that Manning was named MVP. Manning seems to be one of those guys that people personally hate or love and it has nothing to do with Football. Coming into this season GoGo recognized he was a great QB but not top 5 since he routinely did not perform in key situations. This is no longer true. He was absolutely deserving of the MVP and the right choice.

Manning pretty much managed the game perfectly yesterday. People are saying his stats were pretty average which for Manning they were. However given the weather conditions, the Bears "No Big Play" defensive scheme, and the Bears obvious inept offense, he correctly threw alot of underneath and conservative passes. He took what the game and defense gave him. In fact he played a pretty unselfish game in that he allowed his team to win the game.

Addai had a great game, no question. But his 10 pass catches were nothing more than him running out of the backfield and the smart QB throwing him the ball. No spectacular catches or big passing plays.

This win and performance certainly validates his career. GoGo strongly feels his is sure to win at least one more SB if not more and will surely be a top 5 QB of all time in the end. The Manning haters really just need to sit back and enjoy great football history. As with guys like Jordan, Gretzky, Montana, and Brady you can't let your personal feelings get in the way of the enjoyment of watching a once in a lifetime type player. If you do you miss alot of great sports.

Million dollar question.

Actually Rhodes should have gotten some shine as well for MVP consideration.

He did not have an MVP type performance & that is a fact! No one really did as far as the skilled positions go. If anyone deserved it, I would say it was either if not both of the RB's. Rhodes carried the load in the 2nd H & had his first 100 yard game in years. Addai had the most yards from scrimmage & was one reception off of Deion Branch's reception record for the Super Bowl.

Manning got it on name alone & that is so obvious it is ridiculous.

Dante, a mystery to GoGo himself
EGD. couldn't disagree more. 50% of the MVPs have gone to the QB and Addais catches were nothing more than dumps out of the backfield. Any RB in the league could have done that. Most QBs in the league would not have had the patience and smarts required to manage the biggest game of their career given the weather, Bears O, and defensive scheme.

Manning getting the MVP was a sentimental choice. IMO he did not deserve it and I would have given it to Rhodes. If Edgerrin James was still on the team and had the exact same states as Rhodes he would have gotten the MVP.

Lets face it, Defense and the running game is what won this game for Inday.

OK, for the blind lets spin this a different way. If Sexy Rexy had put up Peytons numbers and his quality of performance coupled with a Bears win. would Grossman had been MVP? The answer is 100% yes unless Hester had 2 big plays.
Enough said

I asked this same question early last football season and got ripped by another poster which I won't name for being rude. :icon_conf

I don't know what's so rude about that questions cause I was curious just like you Dante.

I like the 3rd person talk now. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Love NBC's "To Catch a Predator". Reminder, a new episode tomorrow night (Tues) on NBC.

If he put up the same #'s & his other skilled players had the same stats, he wouldn't deserve it either.

You can spin this all you want, anyone who knows how the politics work know he got it because of who he is.
