if so where are all the arrests? How does one get this job?

I honestly don't know is this illegal or not?

Why doesn't a bookie move his business to something like this and go partners with an offshore book? Do people do this?

Just seems weird to me as I have never heard nor known of agents till recently and that is I just heard of them and still dont anyone that is or has one.

Are these done on credit or do you post up with the books?

agent is new age name for bookie.
Being an agent is clearly illegal, and arrests have been in the news.
agents either use the internet for booking or additionally have an offshore assuming some of the financial risk.

The agent must know you and vouches for you and becomes financially responsible for your losses. You simply use the website or 800 number to place your bets and he collects and pays you directly when your figure gets to $X and receives typically 15% of all money lost. There is no question this activity is illegal.

Is this a gray area in gambling because of the fact the bets are made in another country via server or phone?

How did Micheal Konik not get in any trouble in the book "Smart Money" with his agents? Isnt that what they did?

Yes, agents are bookies. Mine just got pinched, right before the damn super bowl. The big bust in NY/NJ, thats why I'm back offshore. It sucked not having action on the superbowl.

agents are very popular. and VERY illegal. some agents have all of their people call offshore but it's still their[agents] business. the agent pays the offshore book 20/30 per head.
so if i got 20 people, i give them #1036 thru 1056. they call 800# place their bets and the agent or book does all the collecting or paying. he then pays the offshore book 20 x per head cost. lets say 20 x 25 = 500.
so the book makes a nickel, the agent or book still has his business but doesn't do the phone work anymore.

Agents aren't bookies. They're just the middle men between a player and a bookie. That's it. He's responsible both ways. (if the bookie doesn't pay or the player.)

They get a percentage when you lose. If they're on a "quarter sheet", they get 25% of what you lose. If they player wins, the agent doesn't get paid until the "plus" total of that the player gets knocked off. If an agent has ten players, it's a cumulative total of all his players together.

Lets hear your explanation. An affiliate and an agent is the same thing.

If you're meeting someone, who gives you a number and he's "Booking" your action....That's a bookie.

Ice...I think what Konik's agents were his "beards" placing his bets.

Agents, are middle men for a offshore or a large book.:drink:

It sucks to be an agent...all it takes is one player to get angry and not pay and run to the local police.....and then it is all over.......you also run into getting st up and robbed, happens all the time.....you gotta be super low key.....too much heat nowadays....

If you have a nice package that looses a lot of money you can usually get a half sheet. You also get 50% of your net losses back every week if your part of your own package but it usually takes years to get on a half sheet with a reliable bookie and by then you should have built a nice tidy set of squares and every ones making money.

Doesn't get any better then that. I wonder how much action has to be coming in for that kind of deal.

Good info FI....

I have a question though. I've got a buddy who bets dime 2-3 team huge M/L parlays all day long.....still chasing that high when he won 50-60K few years ago. Dude loses about 2-3 dimes a week usually. He's been begging me to hook him up with my local, but I know he is goldmine.

How do I approach my local on getting a cut out of his losses? I'm new with this guy too....
