A black eye on the Eagles organization even if Reid had little to do with it.

<!--Start Left column--->February 6, 2007 - Action News has learned that Andy Reid's sons will be arrested today on charges stemming from drug and gun investigations that got underway last week.

Police documents paint an ugly picture of the Reid boys as drug-crazed, reckless drivers, armed and dangerous. Authorities say Andy Reid's eldest son, Garrett, admits he was high on heroin when he smashed into another car. Police say the 23-year-old blew the red light and plowed into a Ford Taurus.
A police report obtained by Action News indicates East Norriton police clocked him at close to 20 miles an hour over the speed limit and saw him weaving in and out of traffic. The officer tried to stop him, but lost him. A short time later, Reid collided with the other car.
When police looked in Reid's SUV they saw the type of scale commonly used in drug trafficking under the rear bench seat, an ammunition container in the rear compartment and the butt of a handgun sticking out from under the driver's seat. When they patted down Reid they found used hypodermic needles and a knife in his pocket.
Police say Reid seemed to be high.
They say he did not follow simple directions, appeared to be very calm and could not understand what was told to him. Sources close to the investigation say police did not arrest Reid at the scene because some of the drugs in the car were prescription drugs, others needed to undergo testing, and they recognized the gun as a BB gun.
However, police also say in two signed statements Reid acknowledged he used heroin that day and possessed drug paraphernalia.
Last week, only Action News was there when 21-year-old Britt Reid left his lawyer's office.
Five hours before his brother's accident, police say Britt was involved in a road rage incident at a West Conshohocken intersection. The other driver says Reid pointed a silver handgun at him, smiled and then drove off. That night police searched Reid's room at his parents' house and found a silver handgun that matches the description. They also found boxes of hollow tipped bullets. Police also searched the SUV that Britt was driving at the time. Inside, they found a shotgun and boxes of ammo.
They also found what appeared to be drugs, a clear container with white powder, 8 plastic bags with residue of white powder and a pill bottle with a green leafy substance inside. The Reids' attorney, William Winning, issued this statement: "We are fully cooperating with law enforcement officials...and will continue to do so. Until these matters are resolved, however, neither the Reid family or I will have any further comment and we ask that the privacy of the Reid family be respected."

That is the part that is COMEDY. These kids have had their asses kissed since they were in grade school because they were Andy Reid's sons, they've had doors opened for them, and their obnoxious, criminal behavior has been swept under the rug based solely upon who they were because our culture WORSHIPS celebrities and sports figures. NOW that the SHIT has hit the fan, they want privacy, all-of-a sudden. :lolBIG: ....F**ks can't have it both ways.

The kids grew up in a mansion in Villanova, Pa suburb of Philadelphia. Andy might not have control over kids but he has control of assault weapons and hollow point bullets being kept in his house.

Tough spot, but if andy spent more time with his family as opposed to his team i am sure his kids would have been better off.

Something like this would never happen in SC--I was told by a friend on the relevant University's police department about a sort of similar incident: the high school senior(iirc) son of a prominant South Carolina college football coach was found sitting in his car in a parking garage smoking a doobie and with a small amount of ganja in his possession. The cops told him to go home and to not do it again. If Reid was a college coach in the south his kid wouldn't be getting into trouble like this ; )

Re-reading the news story it looked like Reid's kid got plenty of preferential treatment as it is...I'm sure if any of us tried to evade cops by speeding while stoned out of our gord to the point of incoherence, caused a wreck with another car and had guns and drugs in our ride that we wouldn't be arrested at the scene either....

I've got a very eclectic circle of friends here, quite a few of whom could be most charitably described as "rustic". They could less charitably be described as "slack jawed rednecks". I went to a party a few months ago for a friend of a friend who'd just built a new house out in the sticks. Of course the reason my friend knew this guy is that they became acquainted at the local shooting range.

Anyway, this guy's house--a very nice house--looked like it was decorated by a Hollywood set designer based on every southern stereotype in existance. Lots of military and NASCAR memorabilia and all the furniture in this otherwise beautiful 3000 square foot house right out of the box from Wal-Mart (WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT SHOP THERE?). The highlight was an entire room *filled* with his guns and ammo. And since you never know when you'll *need* a few live hand grenades, he had them in a lucite display case.

Of course the crowning glory of the crib was in the den--just what every well appointed home needs, a working belt-fed machine gun....

On the upside, at least I've got a good "out" if zombies ever attack...

preferential treatment or not??

i dunno but i do know that whenever you are dealing with these high profile cases you know you're dealing with good lawyers....and proceed with caution as a result.

I know that a lot of cops are cautious about this sort of thing now but this guy was stoned (but not tested), had drugs in his possession along with paraphanalia for taking and *selling* said drugs, had guns in his car (and *every* cop in this country can inspect a gun and tell if its a .bb gun or not--hell, I'm not even a gun enthusiast and I can tell the difference). He caused an accident, evaded the cops when they tried to stop him, was uncooperative and from the sound of it damn near incoherent. When they searched him he had hypo needles and a weapon on him. Not to mention the fact that he had allegedly pulled a gat on another motorist a few hours before...

I agree that cops have to make decisions on who and how to arrest suspects mindful of the potential legal implications, but unless a perp had connections to wealth/power and/or fame there's not a person in this country that *wouldn't* have been arrested in a similar scenario. At the very least, they would have been taken downtown and then released....

Maybe they were on "high terror alert" after what happened in Boston with the Aqua Teen Hunger Force "splinter cell" and had their priorities elsewhere...
