Guys, I play single deck blackjack, and I use a simple system of counting the cards, Im just curious if anyone has any suggestions

I usually play on tables with 2 people or less (me includes 3)

I sit on the end position they do deal cards down, but I usually always get a shot at looking at 1 or both flipping over for double downs or splits, this allows me to get a better idea on my own bet. Plus you can know how people normally play (just like poker).

for every 3,4,5,6 that shows I ADD +1 for every 10,J,Q,K I deduct -1

its an easy system to count, and on single deck I can get 3 hands Dealt to me being able to exploit 1 possibly 2.

thanks to all,,,

+4 is the minimum beginning of value for me, with 1-2 players (includeing me) I have a reasonable shot at a few "valued" hands.

ECS I will raise my 25.00 bet to 50.00 in that situation. So as not to draw too much attention. I do use a progression too. But my hopes is to get other ideas.

and thats the exact reason for me posting this ,,, Im jsut curious if anyone had better ideas or strategies "practices" for setting up a single deck game. Throw me a Bone ECS.

Leading you to the bookclub cause, I could give you a fish (tip) or teach how how to fish ( All the tips you need) Good Luck. sincerely Edward Thorp.

what does a blackjack pay at your single deck game? Im guessing 6-5 which means you can count the cards till the cows come home and you still aint gonna beat the house

I play at the Nugget in Laughlin, it pays Full odds on BJ and you can double down on anything,, this is true on any of their tables, single Deck, double deck, and 6 deck,

if you are only spreading 2 times your bet then you will not get enough of an advantage. You need to find tables that will let you bet 5-$50 or $25-$500. You need to be able to bump to 5 to 10 times your normal bet on a good count.

doing this without drawing heat is an art.

oh OK, never been to Laughlin. single deck is pretty much gone in Vegas except for the ripoff varieties.

WVU, thats what a freidn of mine was saying (and doing) he got alot of heat and I think on his 3rd or 4th bet they asked him to leave.

I know for a fact I can double or triple my bet and they wont Bat an eye. and thats exactly what Im trying to do, find an angle that will fit in that environment.

thanks Mr. Smith, I will order it tonight,

longterm I strongly disagree, but it would depend on the comps as well.

On a decent single deck game 1-3 spread will get you +EV long term as long as you know the basic 20 most common index and can play flawlessly. You'll need to spread at much lower counts.. I'd advocated 2X at +1 or +1.5 and 3 times at any higher....

The problem is, finding a single deck, S17, DAS, 3/2 table with any type of reasonable penetration is nearly impossible.

I personally find the best games to be 2 deck S17, 3/2, DAS, LS games offered at Mandalay, Caesars ($100+ minimum), and one of the station properties... Bellagio and Venetian offer the same with no LS but are much more tolerant of big bets.

I agree, but if you are playing single deck it should also be easy to keep track of how many aces have gone.

If I remember correctly, when I visited the Laughlin Nugget, double deck was the best game to play, and you can still separately track aces.

Double deck is the best game in Vegas the only problem is it is hard to find a table they usually bump the limits up to distract you from playing it i just got back today and most of the tables were 1000 minimum last weekend during prime time.

My suggestion is to play first base. Most casinos with single deck don't deal more than 3 hands even if you are playing with one other person. If you are counting cards (as do I) but are sitting 3rd base, the count has changed by the time you get your cards, and thus your count is off in relation to your bet.

With either DOA or D9-11 this already represents a positive player edge game right out of the shoe.

Number One --- do not tell anyone where you are playing.
Next, if you are getting good single or double deck games, your next move
should be to add index numbers to your play. Stanford Wong's will do just
fine and are readily avavilable. Don't get carried away, learn them to maybe
plus and minus five. They will increase your edge and allow you to disguise
your play.
Finally, tip the dealers, or else.

Single decks are the biggest rip offs. I'm sure you're aware of when the cards are to your advantage. More low cards out. Players advantage. More high cards out dealers advantage. Basic strategy for card counters.

When using a single deck if there are a lot of little cards out that means the dealer will be shuffling earlier then normal. So you lose your advantage. Dealer will probably be shuffling just when the cards are right. If there are a lot of high cards out that means the dealer will deal more hands then normal. Therefore, the card count is negative but your going to be dealt an extra hand or 2.

If your playing by yourself then a single deck can be to your advantage. The problem is as soon as you sit at an empty table people will also sit down. Most people don't want to play by themselves.
