I really tried and watched the first half....What a BORING , BORING game....I know the US won 2-0 scored both goals in the 2nd and that is great but my neck was stiff from watching NOTHING for the first 45 mins

I mean come on...If they would at least do away with the GAY "OFFSIDES" calls it might do wonders for this sport in places in the world where it is not liked. For the love of God if a guy on the other team is going to get a step behind the defense for a break away let me steak in a shoot a goal...that means the D has to be better... there would be more scores and excitment

I love the US soccer team but man its brutal to watch:smoker2:

my 2 cents

You sound like alot of the people I know in the UK who say the NFL is a p ussy sport because of the pads/helmets, and ask why there are so many stops etc. Not meaning to be offensive, but what you've said is the equivalent.

International friendly games are nearly always poor. There's no motivation as the match counts for nothing. Secondly, because international footballers only meet up to play for their country a few times a year, they never have the same understanding, quality, and team spirit that club teams do.

Offside is the one rule that makes 'soccer' so brilliant. It means teams have to be in complete sync with each other to get behind the defence with a perfectly timed through ball and run. If there were no offsides, it would be a horrible game as the majority of the players would just hang around the goal. The majority of the pitch would be empty. If it went it would take away all the skill and buildup needed to actually score.

Rhino...no offense taken I can see your point to an extent im just saying if they ever want it to take off like it did in england and other places those are some of the things they Might want to change.... US soccer will always get crowds

as far as changing offsides I meant giving them at the most a step or 2 is all...not hanging out by the goal that is silly. If the offensive guy's big TOE nail is behind the Defensive guy they will raise that flag and blow that whistle and kill the excitment building at times

Imagine basketball without a 3 second rule or hockey without offsides.

Ugly would be an understatement.

Haha, I know what you mean about the fussy offside decisions. I don't think they could change it a step or two, as that would lead to a million controversial decisions as to how big a step is. But, you're right about shit like the little toe etc. That's a problem with the officials. The rules state that in the event of really close decisions, the attacking team should be favoured.

The big problem with offside rule nowadays is that no one knows the rule anymore. They've got a rule where one player can be yards offside but if he doesn't touch the ball or isn't involved with the play, it's not an offside. This was to try and improve attacking play. It's a bit like the 'pass interference' rule in NFL. No one really knows exactly what it is as officials aren't consistent with it.

The big problem with soccer in Europe, namely the UK, is that unlike the NFL, there are only three or four teams who will ever have the chance of winning their leagues. They have all the money and the best players. There's no salary cap, or draft system. The bottom three teams are relegated to the lower division. So, this leads to ultra-defensive football so teams can just scrape a point and survive. Good thing with the NFL is the salary caps, draft system, etc that gives at least some kind of equality to teams.

That world cup game was so awesome.

USA won as like a +350 dog

That was back when I was super-degenerate. If USA didnt win, I wasnt going to be eating that week.

I was up at 3 am yelling my head off.

The moral of the story is USA - Mexico doesnt always suck to watch.

The first half of the USA-Mexico game was sloppy. Both teams could hardly keep possession. I think Mexico had one shot on goal while the USA had zero.

But that second half was played at a fast and furious pace. Much better game.

without offside in soccer you would have strikers standing next to the goal all the while, waiting for easy chances and the defense would have to stay next to the goal as well. Give them hell, watch NFL !!

For me soccer is watching 20 guys chase a ball around a field for what seems like forever and then about once an hour there might be a score. Pepper in a guys getting brushed and then falling down like they got hit by a truck. Oh yeah, and throw in fans that may or may not try to stab you if their team is losing. Now that's what I call entertainment.

I only watched the final 5 minutes and probably saw the only exciting highlights the entire game....point blank whiff by Mexico and a goal by US.

I agree Dante...that game was boring last night...but then most soccer matches are boring to me. If I need to take a nap I just put it on FOX Soccer and to lala land I go. I think I will just stay w/ my Football, Basketball and Baseball and be happy.
