Bill Legalizing Bar Poker in Wyoming Advances

Heads to Senate Later This Year

<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Wyoming poker fans are one step closer to being allowed to play social poker in bars and restaurants.
A bill that would allow the game to be played in bars and restaurants won approval by the state’s House Travel Committee and will soon face members of the House for consideration. It already made it through the state Senate.
The bill was introduced by politicians to further clarify the state’s gambling laws. In 2004, the state’s Attorney General warned that public poker was illegal the way current laws were worded. The bill was introduced to further clarify what kind of card games can be played in bars so that both the bar owners and the state’s law enforcement officials know where poker stands

Any idea on whether this allows the house to take a rake or is this purely for friendly games/tournaments?

Probably "friendly"....

In Iowa, poker is played in many local bars/tavarns.

I believe the law states that its legal as long as pots stay under $100...........not certain.

im living in casper, wyoming now fish. when i first got up here the first thing that crossed my mind was why there was no "friendly" card games in the bars. shit they are still trying to get into the multi state lotteries. the only reason theres no card games allowed yet is because the ag says bars/restaurants will profit from increased business in liquor and food sales. what a crock of bogus bullshit. i went to old chicagos for the super bowl and they had all kinds of giveaways and shit and they were also passing around $10 block pools. good thing is the poker bill passed the 1st measure and many believe will pass the rest of legislation needed.
