Grand Master B said:When it comes to checks, many financial institutions will put a hold on checks to cover their ass, especially if it is for more than your average daily balance. To make it harder for us, tellers are held responsible and could be terminated for returned checks they cash without putting a hold on them.
The part I don't get is, could these offshore outfits make their paper checks look more counterfeit than they currently do? fuck. It's hard enough to cash a regular check from another country without the extra hurdles. One example: the check I got today was made out on the 6th of Feb, so how does the check get dated? 6/2/07. nice. I can see it now, I go to the bank in the morning and they tell me to come back in four months. That on top of the fact that it's the cheapest looking check printed on the cheapest paper possible can be frustrating.
I bet that check was actually dated correctly in there eyes. I know in Great Britain and many other countries calendar dates list the day first, the month, the year in that order.Grand Master B said:i am not worried about the validity of the check at all man, just the hassle. I have already gotten the opinions of a bank employee friend that expressed their concern about the check. In the end, they said they would definitely cash it, but with a hold. The date was right on the other forms, not sure why it's dated like that.
All in all it was a decent transaction, not quite as good as the experience I had with Cris, but still very good.

I was banned by them!!
My lawyer said they are one of the most conservative, anti-gambling banks there is and they will ban any person they think is a gambler. I met with them, showed them my tax forms - and they said "see ya".
No big deal, but Suntrust - in my experience and from what I hear - is not a gambling friendly bank. There are some that are. Think Canadian in America.
