This is sad to hear, but you are not the only one I have heard this from. Tech issues, score corrections and late injury information seem to top the list of complaints. For those who don’t know, I was the GM at DB for 6 years before I joined theRX in July. Things were running very well when I left, but I guess the powers that be figured they know how to do things better then I did.

I have recommended G&J (www.gjupdate.com) to quite a few people over the past couple of months and they seem to be pretty happy with them.

Thanks
Rick

A live line service is a great tool to anybody that is betting over $100 a game. A lot of people look at these services and figure they can just open up a couple of browsers and get the information for free, but if you know how to use the information, you can save yourself more than a couple of bets a week.

For example, by looking at the lines at 30 sportsbooks, you can get an idea of which way a line is going to move. Say you want to take <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Toronto tonight and you have accounts at BetCris, Sportbook.com and JustBet. If each of your outs has 7 on the game, you would probably just pick one and take the 7. However, if you had a line service and could see that 20 other books have 7.5, you can assume that your 3 books are either going to stay at 7 or more likely one of them will end up going to 7.5. Now that you have this information you can wait to place your bet until one your outs moves to a more favorable line. Getting that extra .5 point will really add up over time.

This is just one example of what these services can do. You also get injury updates, lineups, umpires, refs, weather, etc.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

appreciate the insight Rick. Thought there might be a way to pick the games by comparing one book against the others. Like the pinny lean that is often mentioned about. Ive never had any luck with it except in the nfl.

The Silver Service updates continuously all day long and is approximately 2 minutes delayed from the Gold Service which is in real time.

The problem with Don Best is the syndicates beat the moves..that means that DB is in with the plays..A real service beats the players to the moves..Why would I subscribe to a service thats a follower??

Queston for RICKA

I'm a recreational player but am serious about it. Would the "Silver Service" be acceptable as their is a substantial difference in cost? I have never had a line service before. :ughhh:

LMAO.... how would a service beat the players to a 'move' when it's the players that make the line move? Is DB supposed to guess which plays the syndicate is going to make and then move the lines accordingly? It's not a move till it's bet either heavily or by a known sharp so just how is DB supposed to beat the players to the line movement?

It's a lengthy list. I have the service. Is there some books you are interested in, I can answer or wait until later in the day and I will list them all. Busy with hoops today.

I can't realistically fit all the books on my monitor screen. Other than the books I have active accounts with (Greek, 5Dimes, Wsex, Bodog, and Betjam) - are there books that you or anyone else who uses the service consider essential for following line moves? I would think Pinny would be one - even if I am shut out.
