More Snow in the Forecast for New York
Upstate Already Hit With 110 Inches

By JOHN KEKIS
AP

It wasn't good news for this winter-weary region when the flakes began to fall again Saturday. A warning in effect until Monday morning said 2 to 4 more feet of snow was possible with wind gusting up to 24 mph.

"That's all we need," Mike Avery said as he took a brief break from loading dump trucks with snow to be hauled to a pile outside town. "It's getting monotonous."

Persistent bands of lake-effect snow squalls fed by moisture from Lake Ontario have been swinging up and down this part of central New York along the lake's eastern shore since last Sunday.

The National Weather Service said Parish - about 25 miles northeast of Syracuse - reached a milestone early Saturday with 100 inches of snow during the past seven days. That was pushed to 110 inches by early Sunday with fresh snowfall.

Been away from it for over 20 years now, and can't imagine how I did it for 26 years prior.

Looks like the first significant snowfall for the mid-atlantic early this week. I can't imagine this more than a few times a season.

...A WINTER STORM MAY AFFECT THE REGION FROM TUESDAY INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY...

LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO APPROACH FROM THE SOUTHWEST ON TUESDAY. THE LOW IS EXPECTED TO DISSIPATE ON TUE SDAY NIGHT AS ANOTHER AREA OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST. THE SECOND LOW SHOULD INTENSIFY RAPIDLY AS IT MOVES TO THE NORTHEAST, PASSING TO THE EAST OF DELAWARE AND NEW JERSEY ON WEDNESDAY BEFORE REACHING THE COASTAL WATERS OF NEW ENGLAND ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

THE STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SNOW TO PARTS OF EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA, NEW JERSEY, DELAWARE AND NORTHEASTERN MARYLAND FROM TUESDAY INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY. DEPENDING ON THE TRACK OF THE STORM, THERE MAY BE SOME MIXED PRECIPITATION FOR A TIME ON TUESDAY NIGHT IN SOUTHERN DELAWARE AND IN SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY.

playing sandlot football in the snow , now those were times I will always remember fondly.

favortie play call in the snow;

whole team goes to left , fake ptch to the tailback, split end lines up on the right side , he goes down and out to the right and is wide open , never fails.

Not everyone has a choice.

Luckily some of us do. I feel sorry for those that don't. I'm at a point in my life where I can go anywhere in the country, so no more winters spent with the lousy weather of the northeast. They're so much nicer on a postcard than on your lower back while shoveling slushy, heavy snow. I'm currently in South Carolina, but looking to move to Dallas, Austin, or Phoenix come June. Enjoy the snow.

nice pictures but that aint no 110 inches of snow. Ive been in several 20-28 inch snowfalls here in Minnesota and its stunning to se that much snow in the morning and digging out is bad. But those phots look much like those rare days maybe 20-30 inches. lots of snow yes, roofs with drifts, cars boxed in for sure. but where is the 110 inches?

I remember when I was in middle school and it would snow in New Jersey, I'd go around the richer area of the neighborhood offering to plow the snow off the sidewalks and driveways of the houses and making a lot of money doing that, especially for a young 11 year old kid. Also, the many days a year where school would be cancelled because of the snow.
Ahh, the good old days when you really didn't have to worry about shit like getting your money back from Neteller or books stiffing you.....
