The New Jersey Nets are seriously considering a deal that would send All-Star point guard Jason Kidd to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have offered two first-round draft picks and several expiring contracts, in return. Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie and Jordan Farmar have been mentioned, as has center Kwame Brown. Nets' center Jason Collins could also be involved.

Interesting to say the least and something that may be causing some nervousness in San Antonio, Dallas and Phoenix.

Watching Kidd, Kobe, and Lamar Odom would be pretty sweet. All 3 are great at creating shots for others. This would mean more shots for Kobe and better shots for everyone else.

One local report Sunday suggested the Nets and Lakers are mulling a deal that would send Kidd to L.A. in exchange for a package of young players. But Kidd’s name coming up in talks between the teams doesn’t mean anything is imminent. But Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak recently told the L.A. Times that he doesn’t think he will “tinker with the team” before the deadline. Source: New York Daily News

Same as the AI to Denver deal I said wouldn't help, this one won't either. The Lakers already have a nice offense but don't play much D. Kidd definitely won't help that.

It would be a good move for the Lakers.

Plus Kobe would have a partner to go out with. Kidd can beat the bitches and then Kobe rapes them.

Kidd is old and injured alot. He's not a good defender.

Same argument I had about AI... stats only show so much. The times these guys go for a steal and miss or just plain get beat to a spot aren't shown statistically.

What you describe is exactly what Smush does.

Kidd's on the ball defense is infinitely better than Smush parker's. He can actually contain Nash and Tony Parker. Plus, with the triangle, he will be able to post both those guys up too and still work within the offense.

AI is a totally different case. He has always been a scorer and never worked well with others. Kidd's whole game is to get everyone involved. Kobe and Odom would love to have Kidd on their team.

Kidd, Kobe, Walton, Odom, Bynum. Everyone except Bynum is a great passer from the post. All Bynum should be asked to do is rebound and alter shots, which is what he's getting better at.

You are nuts if you honestly believe Kidd is not a great defender. Comparing him to AI is a joke.

Kobe and Odom aren't getting any younger and these are the prime years of both their careers. If you want any shot at the championship in the near future, you make this trade. You're wasting Kobe's career if you're gonna sit around and wait for Bynum and Farmar to develop.

I know Smush is pretty bad as well but getting Kidd to improve the offense while leaving the D alone just isn't a good move in my eyes. They can already score nicely and would be taking on more contract money if this deal goes through. Doesn't seem like it sets up well for the short or long term.

So? He's not the same player he once was. He gets beat too often and is not nearly as mobile as he once was.

Plus the NBA All Defensive team is a joke alot of the time.

Too much emphasis is placed on statistics that don't show much about defenders.
