Belichick (or however you spell his name) makes perfect sense to come here. He and other Parcells guys have been known to jump after a while, and there have been rumblings that Belichick's relationship has deteriorated a bit in NE. He has squeezed every bit of juice he could out of NE. Makes a lot more sense than other names being mentioned.

nobody knows the terms of his contract but supposedly its up next year. supposedly why the giants let coughlin in for one more go

would the spanos pay the price even if he was available? how much is 3 time SB winning coach even worth on the open market?

Marty supposedly wasn't good enough because of his playoff failures. If that is the case, they better bring someone in here who has won in the playoffs as an NFL head coach.

I wonder if they would give Jim Fassel a look at this job.

ummm...would like to hear a source on this one...i listen to talk radio each day, read the Globe & Herald, watch every Pats related show on TV...and have yet to hear that one.

He has as much control over management decisions, then any other Head Coach in the league....has close to $20 million under the cap...and 2 first round draft picks...not to mention, a young/talented o-line & d-line...how exactly has every drop been squeezed out of NE?

Belichick certainly is somewhat mysterious when it comes to his contract, however, I just can't see Kraft letting him go. He also seems to have a great working relationship with Scott Peoli, who didn't even want to talk to the Giants. Maybe if the Pats have an off year, and he runs into contract squabbles, Bill would consider "bolting" to the Chargers, but I just can't see it for now.

It would be nice to see Bill move along and take on a new challenge, he has pretty much done anything you can do here in New England.

I am not a Patriots fan, but I have nothing but respect for the man.

He has TOTAL control in New England. Why would he want to go somewhere else and be someone's little bitch?

If the relationship in Foxboro was so bad, why did Scott Pioli tell Miami to take a hike when they came after him?

Belichick has so much control that nobody even knows what his contract is like. How many years does he have left? How much does he earn? What is the buyout clause? ... He doesn't want anyone to know for the simple reason that he isn't planning on leaving. AJ Smith offered Marty a one-year extension and told the whole world about it ... that sort of stuff doesn't happen in New England. Would any other team treat him like this? I doubt it.

He's going to get sick of the players attitudes and retire like Walsh

A week or so ago the Boston Globe had a story saying how much he still liked it here and what a good working relationship him, Pioli and the Krafts have.

It could be a smoke screen but I took it at face value because there hasn't been anything pointing otherwise so I would be interested in hearing what these rumblings have been.

Maybe he'll get bored of success and winning and look for another challenge like Detroit, Arizona or Oakland. :lolBIG:

Remember those words if they hire Turner and this team goes into the tank.

I really think they will hire a defensive coach. AJ Smith is a "defense" guy. Rex Ryan would make perfect sense. His unit has been #1 (or close to it) since he's been there. He doesn't have an enormous ego that would clash with AJ, and he would just coach and not worry about personnel. Anyone but BOZO the Carroll.

Oh my lord. Ryan has two seasons as a DC....Caroll has six. Ryan's defensive unit was close to the top? Caroll's was the best in the NFL at SF. Carroll doesn't have a job as one of the top coaches in america because his dad was a legend...he actually worked his way up.

You are such a retard. Learn your facts before you spew misinformation. Chargers should offer Carroll $7 mill a season and cash in with two superbowls.

That is going to be a tough sell ... imagine taking that job and trying to hire assistant coaches so late in the off-season.

Makes sense. Smith won't hire Bill B or any other brand name coach who will want some control over the draft and free agent signings and releases. Rightly so, Smith is a proven commodity (not like the absurdly over-hyped B. Beathard, who built a lucrative career on ONE small college draft choice,Darrell Green for Skins)

Get over yourself. Why exactly then do NFL GM's not give Pete the time of day? His name only comes up with perennial losers looking for a PR grab. You supposedly watch USC play. Are you impressed with his defensive schemes? I sure as hell am not. But when I watch the Ravens play I most definitely am. Pete Carroll would get his ass handed to him on a Univeristy of Spoiled Children sized silver platter in today's NFL. He can't X and O, and his childish motivational tactics didn't play 10 yrs ago, let alone now. Pete was USC's 3rd choice for Gods sake. If he was such a hot commodity in the NFL why was he not at the top of everyone's list before? You are the only one who considers his NFL experience a success. Even he considers it a failure. He has the same # of Suberbowls you and I and Marty have and hasn't coached in the league in eons. He schematically can't coach worth a crap and has proved it in every close game he has been in.
