awsome, anyone know anything helpful with this. I go to the gym today, I have my wallet in my coat and at the last second I feel it while walking in and put it in my car (im 75% sure I lock it). So I go work out.....

get back in car, luckily go to the store, open up wallet and notice right away my drivers license is gone. Then notice all 3 credit cards are also gone.

long story short, I call all the credit cards, guy who stole it is in the process of running around town making huge purchases, a little over 10k total.

All cards get canceled, I go to police who are very little help at all, they file a report and say an investigator will call me. I do some of my own investigation, find out what stores they hit and call them, tell them the details and they told me they have a camera and can look up the exact time.

So, what do I do now, I guess just wait, its so annoying that the police are so UNhelpful, you would think they would be making these calls instead of me. What it looks like is this guy or guys will get away with it and my cc's will eat the money, still shitty.

any advice on what now?

I wish the we could have the resources that the cops have. I would much rather do this kind of shit myself because at least I care about it. I had a car rear end me and then just back up and take off. The police were so uninterested in the case. I had the license plate number and everything. They sent letters to the address telling them to show up, they ignored the first couple of letters. I was told by the police that if they did not show up there was not much they could do about it. NOT MUCH THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT? The police are worthless. Do ass much as you can on your own and don't wait for the police for anything. They will be little help to you.

Dude you will be fine. Just wait & take a deep breath. No way you will have to pay those debts. Like the stores told you they will have the guy on camera who used your card. Like you said at worse the CC eats the money, but most likely the guy who stole your card will end up in custody. Have a good evening.

You'll be fine. Now that the cards are cancelled, they'll get him on video someplace trying to use the stolen cards & security just might grab him on the spot.

Sorry to hear that.

This has happened to me, but twice it was my bank that called me and told me that my card was being used elsewhere. The first time, the SOBs made off with about $2,000 in charges at Lowes and then tried to buy some stuff at Toys R Us...in FLORIDA. Apparently someone at a restaruant lifted the numbers or had one of those swipes to record the ID and make a card. I wasn't liable for any of the charges.

Second time, someone tried to buy 5,000 worth of stuff in Texas over the internet and that was fortunately DECLINED. Issued me a new card and number.

I know your frustration, I spent a good week trying to figure out how this happened and where it was and narrowed it down to a restaurant in Philly my friend and I were at. He paid the first time we went and two weeks later, I paid. Both of us had our card numbers used for purcahses....someone tried to buy Gateway computers with his and it was declined. Called the local police, even told the credit card fraud dept what happened and what I found and also found that that restaurant had a problem before...seem a waiter felt like he deserved at $100 tip instead of a $10 tip and changed the tip amount...bad move since it was the Postmaster General who's card it was. Anyway, no one seemed to care and it was really frustrating. I was really angry and upset, and unfortunately from my experience there isn't much we can do. Thankfully I was not liable for those charges. I hope in your case they have a camera visual, license plate or something that can nab them.

Good Luck.
