Iron Mike really never beat anyone that was anyone unless they were past their prime ! He fought a bunch of stiffs and hardly ever went the distance ! Once He went up against real boxers like Hollyfield.... Well it was a joke !

He never had to go to the distance. He's hand were like bowling balls. Why go to 12 rounds when you can knock them out in 2nd? You obvisouly dont watch boxing. Mike is nothing compared to Ali but Tyson in the his prime was bad motherfucker

Tyson in his prime is the most feared boxer ever.

No one has ever had that kind of power, that kind of quickness

100% true. He was a big puncher and mean and the entire world falls in love with a big puncher that is a heavyweight. It is unreal. He never fought great fighters.

He fought who it was necessary to become the undisputed heavyweight champion for a while. Tyson was a great talent. Was he overrated? Yeah probably so, but the guy had great talent.

I'd put Mark Breland up there. Fantastic amateur career and 1984 Gold Medallist but didn't hold onto his welterweight belt for very long (twice). The way he was hyped you would have thought he'd go 55-0 in 3 weight classes.

I guess the best fighter he beat would be Michael Spinks, who was the lightweight champion, but obviously out of his league. I'll never forget the look on Spinks' face right before that bout. He wanted no part, and I was actually surprised he didn't shit his pants.

Overrated? Maybe. But, he was dominate for a period of time. Not his fault that the heavyweight division had no one to challenge him, and force him to improve and hone his skills. No Frazier, Foreman, Norton or Shavers to force him to improve as a boxer. Never realized the "sweet science". He relied solely on intimidation and power. He took it for granted, and didn't think he needed anyone. I think if he would have stayed with Atlas, his career, and subsequently, his life may have taken a different turn. Although not an afficianado, I enjoy boxing. I wonder what could have been with him.

He was great until the fixes stopped. Buster Douglas was supposed to get paid off and take a dive until his mother died and he then changed his mind and told Don King he was going to beat the sh*t out of Tyson. Don King then had to pay off the judges who all had Tyson winning the Match when it was stopped. No one in the world except paid off judges would tell you they had Tyson ahead in the fight when it was stopped.

He was pampered and any fight that might be trouble was taken care of behind closed doors. Tyson was a joke and benifited from the slezzy promoters who make and break fighters on their ability to draw crowds. Tyson with his unreal power (dives from other boxers) looked like a killer.

And don't anybody tell me this didn't and doesn't happen in Boxing. It is the most crooked of all the sports, by a mile.

Remember Michael (2nd to) Nunn? Arums Tyson. Remember when Arum told him enough dancing and start clubbing people. Well Nunn told him he was the money maker and not to tell him how to fight. Well Arum told the 30 something and 0 fighter to get lost and he lost his next 2 fights really bad. And he was not heard from again.

But Boxing is on the up and up just like mosts sports run by people who only care about how much money the next super star will make them. If it's not much they won't be a super star for long. We have seen that before many, many times.

Nope...watching him knock people da fuck out within seconds or a couple rounds...also the fight you mentioned later in his career was also exciting...never knew what he would do next! Great excitement and tune in any time Tyson is fighting as does much of the world.

Sorry Viking but to each his own .... Watching a coward bite someone's ear off is not what I call a great exciting boxer ! I call that person a coward and He is and always was. If Joe Lewis, Ali, Holly or I could name about 50 or so other boxers met him in their prime and his prime.... Tyson would be looking up ! He's a fraud and a freek ! End of story ! Note ... I have never seen Tyson knock out a boxer... Perhaps you are correct... He did knock out a few people !

Kermit....Amen. Most overrated boxer in history. Anyone that thinks he was the best needs to study the long list of cans this guy fought. He reigned at perhaps the lowest point in HW history, other than now.
