Bigbet, I have been gambling since the mid 60s. My first bet was for $5 on Mich St. against Notre Dame in that famous 10-10 tie back in 1965 or 66, I was in high school at the time but worked in a restaurant after school and bet one of the bartenders who was a big ND fan.
These days I don't bet as much as I used to and only at what could be described as a recreational level mainly because I don't have much time to handicap. Over the years I have spent much more time on the other side of the counter rather than being a player. These days I pick my spots, and still if needed could probably grind out a few bucks betting baseball which has always been my best sport handicapping wise. I bet some football this year with less than spectacular results.
In all honesty I am able to take or leave gambling on a daily basis which comes from living in Las Vegas for many years where you can't really survive unless you are a part of a very miniscule minority of pros that gamble professionally and actually make a good living do so.
I know I would make a great local if I ever decided to go that way. I say this because of lessons learned from being around bookmakers for the last 40 years.
