WTF happened????

A mere 2.5 months ago many were hailing this as a TOP THREE conference..........now they are looking at maybe only getting two teams in the BIG DANCE.

NORTHERN IOWA has been the biggest disappointment.

Early season predictions were way overrated. No way they were a top three conference.

TED, they had some big wins in PRE-CONFERENCE play ...............

Doesn't matter. When you have conferences like the Pac 10, ACC, SEC, Big East, Big 10 and Big 12, there is never any way that the MVC can be rated in the top three ever.

SIU is a legit threat to win the whole freakin' thing. The Salukis can ball. The rest of that conference is nothing special. I mean they're GOOD. They're the class of the mid-majors. They might compete against the Big 10 or Big 12 top to bottom... but they're not the ACC, the Big East, the Pac-10, or the ACC under any circumstances.

I just hope the selection idiots don't screw over SIU. They deserve a 3 seed but will probably get a 5 or a 6 and a really tough draw.

I must say as an FSU fan still clinging to tournament hopes, seeing the Valley take a crap yesterday made me really happy... however, I've pretty much conceded the fact that it's gonna take 4 wins to get to the Dance from here for the Noles, and with games @ Maryland, NC State, and @ Miami left in the regular season, and then probably another matchup with a Duke or a UVA in the ACC tourney.... yikes... My hope was that FSU would finish either 5, 6, or 7 in the ACC so they could draw Wake, NC State, or Miami in the first round of the tourney and perhaps bag another win. As of right now, it's the 9 seed for the Noles, meaning a game against GT again... which I'm not necessarily opposed to... it's the game against Carolina lurking after that which concerns me...

ACC could still legit end up with 9 teams with 20 wins... I don't know if that's ever happened before, especially in a 12 team conference.

College hoops is all about recruitment and the reputation of the university. The large school conferences have the ability to recruit the best players from around the country. These players make these conferences more talented and deeper. The mid-majors cannot compete for the same talent. While they may get their share of wins, as conferences they cannot rise to rank third in the nation. In my opinion, the MVC is given too much respect. Winthrop beating Missouri State was no fluke. Yet Winthrop must win their conference tournament to assure getting in the Dance even though they are 23-4 and have played some top teams extremely well.

EXACTLY!! Go through this argument constantly being in Omaha and all these people with their heads up Creighton's ass. They think the Mo valley is legitimately a top 2 or 3 conference and it about makes me want to puke. Not near athletic enough bigs to compete over the course of a conference schedule with the true power conferences.

New NBA draft rules will swing the pendulum of strength back to the power conferences, with evidence in the next two years and getting stronger from there.

This is a very good conference. Top 3 though?...no way. THey have never compeeted for the same athletes as the other conferences. Creighteon is superb and that coach is a rising star. But ACC, Big East, pact ten etc all have superior athletes. Last year I believe a couple of teams made it to the sweet 16 from here. This year the conference is strong and deep....S Illinois just beat Butler and Bradley hammered VCU. These teams play very very hard and I love watching the battles night in and night out. Wichita St has beaten some good teams too. The conference is excellent but hard to compare to others.
