Acting as his own agent as he always has, Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling mae a request before the season started to the Red Sox management to either "sign him for next year or he would be moving on"....

"He's been a horse for us," Lucchino said on WEEI after Schilling spoke. "He's been sensational over the years and this is, by no means, meant to be a sayonara to Curt Schilling in any way, shape or form."

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, Schilling will have that extra incentive now, but at this age I think it could go either way if he struggles or gets hurt...

If he has a stellar season it would be interesting to see if he allows Boston to still sign him, he's always been a bit of a maverick, I think he would stick to his word and walk.

And ummmm, who does Schilling think would sign him? Unless he wants to go back to the Diamondbacks with the Big Unit.

If he were a free agent some team would fork over two years, maybe not at his asking price though...I think he wanted a comparable (2007 salary figure) additional year added on.

He was still 17-8 with a 3.97...he did fade though as the year went on.

I've hated him ever since he went campaigning for Bush after the WS victory.

Why would he not want a deal close to that of Randy Johnson's? What? I read 26 mil a year. This for a middle aged guy who works once every 4 days, if he feels like it.

The NFL has a coupla of nut cases and 1 senile owner but in MLB it seems like mental instability is a required trait for ownership.

I have wanted Curt to move on since last year. I'm tired of his big mouth, and the fact he seems like an authority on anything you ask him about anytime a mic is put in his face. He is getting old, his stuff isnt awesome anymore. Adios.

I fully recognize what Schill did for us in '04, but it took a lot more than just him and his bloody socks. Even though you can regard that as one of the most guttiest perfomances in recent memory.

Well Funk, even despite all the drama shit, why should the Sox give a guy an extension when hes had two down years in a row and isn't getting any younger.
