Man what a fight.

Buster was a 42-1 underdog. Gets knocked down by Iron Mike in round 8, comes back in round 9 and fuckin rocks Tyson a couple times, only to knock the dude out in round 10.

Knocked Tyson to the canvas for the first time in his career.
And the announcer was great.

Amazing fight...when will boxing like this come back? Ever?

42-1 underdog, one of, if not the biggest upset in boxing history. Great fight, glad I caught this before I hit the sack.

Douglas fought the fight of his life. Solid one-twos all night long. He would have beaten many all time heavyweights on that night. Mike just had no answer for it. My favorite tidbit about the fight is listening to Douglas cornerman barking throughout the fight. Nonstop yelling at Douglas the entire fight with shit like "You in charge James, you in charge" and "he ain't shit James", "you the man, you the man". Classic stuff

Still one of the best fights to watch when it is on. I think everyone remembers where they were when originally watching that fight on HBO. The moment the referee counted 10 and waved his arms, you just couldn't believe what you were seeing.

And all the postfight interviews that went on with everyone...

Lampley: "Mike Tyson's corner was just informed that it was a KO, the count reached 10...KO"

Buster: "I knocked him on his ass!"

And how about when Don King tried to suspend the results of the fight because of the supposed long count when Buster was knocked down. Back then, that upset screwed up what would have been the first Tyson-Holyfield fight coming up after it. Huge money down the drain for both guys at the time.

Tyson took the fight for granted and paid the price.
It was a combination of one boxer fighting the bout of his life and the other coming in very very unprepared.

People need to remember as well how Bert Sugar went into his boxing magazine after Don King and Sulaiman for being crooks; so much that he succeeded by himself in keeping Douglas the new undisputed champ.

King didn't liked it one bit, and to get even send two or three heavies to Sugar's magazine offices and they punched him in the head.
Now that wasn't good sport, Don.

my favorite sporting upset of all time. Douglas dedicated that fight to his mother, who had died of a stroke shortly before the bout.

douglas was not scared which was very unusual for a tyson opponent. you could see it in his eyes during the fight. he was inspired by his mother's passing and nothing was going to stop him. awesome!

No clue if it's true or not but a former boxer told me that Tyson contracted an STD a few days before the fight and that the med's played a role in the outcome. Either way Douglass was incredible that night.

I think it was the IBF who recognized Douglas right away even with the Don King bullshit about the 10 seconds.
