Wandy's game is to get all roided up and knock people out. The guy is a good BJJ guy but you can get a blackbelt out of that camp if you can submit a cucumber.

This fight is drug-tested meaning Wandy had to get out of his cycles and I can't imagine him being as mean as before.

Henderson fights at a class lower but if you look at his fights, he has never been knocked out. He has an uncanny ability to stay away from the big punch and take you down.

He's strong as an ox and although he may give up some poundage, he's pretty damn good on the ground. He does just enough to win some decisions and I can see that happening here. He'll avoid the big punch, take Wandy down, and do just enough.

The weight advantage won't be a huge thing IMO. Henderson has very nice ground skills and can transfer pretty damn well. He has to watch out for the triangle with Wandy on the bottom but I think he'll be ever so cautious and avoid it.

Likely a boring fight, but Henderson is a 3-1 dog and his game is to not get knocked out, get the take down, and do just enough to win it. I can't see him TKO'ing Wandy through ground and pound but I can see him winning a boring fight with Wandy on his back alot.

Who is with me on the dog, undersized dog?

Cheers to the US fighter with the big heart and skills to beat the LHW champ.

Oh yea, Wanderlei got beat by Tito who is also a wrestler. It was a while ago but still...

I may take a shot with Hendo. You never bet against a truly elite wrestler in MMA that's the caliber of Henderson. The only thing is, you never know which Henderson will show up.

There really is no other value on this card. maybe Trigg, but I don't see it. Misaki is #4 in the world at 185. I am surprised that Diaz is only +260 against Gomi. Diaz will think he can strike with him and that's not a good idea with Gomi who is much faster.

I would have taken Overeem if this fight against Shogun were like 3 years ago, but his best days are behind him IMO.

The favorites in this fight are very set. I'm gonna go against you for Hendo vs Wand. I've been re-watching their fights since their first encounter and I've noticed Dan has been off. He should be taking advantage of his wrestling against most fighters but doesn't choose to. I think Silva will take advantage and score more chin shots in the standup. Dan's best chance would be to take it to the ground and GnP away.

Silva fights like an animal and I don't think his animalistic style has gone away even with that vicious KO from CC. This feels like a gimme fight for Silva. He should have been fighting Rogerio.

Trigg is getting a lot of credit right now fighting at 185 by beating Mayhem Miller, but I think it's lots of hype. Misaki will overwhelm Trigg standing. Trigg's best bet is to go for clinch takedowns. Although I don't see Trigg haven't anything close to the transitional GnP ground game that Filho used against Misaki to literally destroy him to submission. End result - Trigg back in the broadcast table talking about how great Misaki slapped him around or Trigg in the hospital.

As for upsets on this card, I'm gonna go with Mac Danzig over Sakurai. From what I've been hearing about Danzig, he's been really analyzing Sakurai's fight game and has a clear gameplan. Sakurai also had a harder time cutting for this fight. Danzig looks very relaxed and composed. I'd probably put a very small wager on Danzig. I know Sakurai has all the experience in the world and is a very strong striker, but at +400 I'm willing to risk it. Danzig is a very tough fighter and I'm thinking this will be a decision of some sort.

I'm also on Trigg and Diaz for what it's worth. Diaz can definitely win if he doesn't try to stand and bang which he has done far too much recently. Stick to the gameplan Diaz!

Trigg has alot left in the tank and I think he's the better fighter. He also has something to prove in a big way if he wants to be a fuckin fighter.

I considered Overeem but won't touch it. Shogun should knock him out with some freaky leg thingamadoo.

DIaz don;t have great wrestling or takedowns. That is why he stands so much. I don't see his fight with Gomi being any different. I don't think Diaz can keep Gomi on his back.

you know,i always thought that gomi`s soft spot was his ground game....and i recall diaz hanging very tough with a much bigger karo parisyan......who`s pretty decent on the ground....

seems like skinny diaz is always fighting stronger guys....may not be the case here...

balls to the wall, gomi`s too quick....i agree...that`s why he`s favored...and diaz is actally a slow puncher...

.but,he does have a win over robbie lawler in a shoout-out if i recall...and there is a size differential here....a height differential....diaz is used to fighting bigger stronger guys....

and this isn`t in japan...no 10 minute 1st round....no kicks on the ground...no stomps on the ground....

maybe several of the japanese fighters will be a little uncomfortable on foreign soil...i`m not sure is gomi`s ever fought outside of japan....

i love gomi....he`s just a balls to the wall joy to watch....but,i think this "COULD"....i say "COULD" be a difficult fight for him....

imo, diaz is worth a small look here.....for shits and giggles....

Diaz beat Gomi? How? And 6 months ago Gomi and Fedor were considered the two best PFP.

\

Diaz got knocked on his ass in the 1st but recovered, he then knocked Gomi silly with numerous punches but the round was stopped before Diaz could land the big one. They both were hitting big shots in round two but Diaz went to the ground and Gomi went on top and got caught in a crazy submission that I don't even know the name for. One leg was under Gomi's head, the other was over... Hell, I have never seen anything like it but Gomi tapped.

Thanks Wanker. I needed a big night. I'm still pissed about my Arvloski -400 or so bet losing versus Sylvia in the 2nd fight. Made up for it though.

Anyway I'm out... Night fellers.

USA!

Go Hendo! Fuck Wanderlei. Fuck Pride. What's funny is that they kept saying Wanderlei is the best in the world and Henderson is the only American who would face him. Obvious Chuck reference. Well say goodbye to your champ Pride because a smaller fighter that is known for wrestling just knocked his chump ass out.

an incredible night of fights....not sure whether pride is happy about all this...or pounding sand up their own asses with an icepick because several of their stars took the pipe......

i know one thing...if you didn`t like pride prior to this event, and you have any affinity for mma, you`d have to want to see it again.....

diaz may be limited.....but he had a real size advantage here...and a more well rounded game....gomi`s great fun to watch, but,he is one dimensional.....he wouldn`t do well in ufc...to many solid wrestlers....diaz is one tough s.o.b...and if you stand outside that long reach,he`ll pepper you from pillar to post.....

fortunate for him(and myself)that that cut wasn`t over his eye....

i had a small bet on trigg.....and lost a little on overeem.....i had a feeling that the japanese fighters might struggle a bit.....aside from sakurai(it looked like a man fighting a boy)....

and regarding silva.......jake may have made a very important point regarding the steroid issue.......

i wonder how soon we`ll see pride in the u.s. again?....

i know i was utterly exhausted afterward....that was primo stuff....

The fights were very fun to watch. Not sure if it was because of the upsets or because I had money on the underdogs that upset, but it was fun.

Jake, nice call on Hendo....we went to Pure last night and our VIP box was right next to Ed Fishman (the boxes all kind of blend together). A lot of fighters were there (Rua, Trigg, etc...) all were very cool. Fishman was plastered...he's a little guy but he can drink his ass off.

Haha good stuff. I drank like eight beers here, went to a buddies house and took four shots, went to the bar and had three more shots and half a pitcher, went back to my buddies house and had two more shots, started to walk home, plastered out of my mind at 4PM. Stumbled upon a party half a block later and drank two more beers and a shot there before getting a ride home at 5PM. Passed out on the couch with my pants off but my shirt on. Still drunk when I woke up. Was a good night.

Anyway, my advice for the next UFC is to parlay Sylvia and Hughes for some easy coin. Randy is getting knocked out and Hughes is soooo much better than Lytle. Hughes by whatever way he wants it.

Still working on the undercards...
