I just read the Tyson/Douglas thread and had this thought.
Ali in his prime with his 'A' game versus Tyson in his prime with his 'A" game.
Who wins the bout?

I got Ali, Ali was a master of getting into opponents heads and under their skin.

Everyone likes to hate Tyson as if its some kind of hobby.

But in the Cus D'amato days, there will never be another as nice.

Tyson in one. Ali too slow and too underpowered.

Uh, definitely Tyson...doesn't Ali have Parkinson's? Tyson would kill him, Ali would have no chance.

hahahahaha I'm going straight to hell.

Ali in prime would destroy Tyson in prime. 1990 Tyson vs. 1965 Ali. Tyson than was a powerful fighter and thug who intimidated everybody who weny against him for quite a while. Kind of like Sonny Liston or even Foreman in'74. Doesn't matter how hard you hit if they don't connect.
Ali had lightweight speed with heavyweight strength and reach. Unique fighter.

no doubt Ali.....Tyson was only good against guys who came into the ring to run and not hit back like Holyfield and Buster did

Agree that Ali could get into your head BUT Tyson was the best at getting under your skin (with his teeth).

Ali.....10 out of 10 times

wrong - 110 times out of 100

This thread is a joke for little kids to talk about how great Tyson was because he threw tremendous haymakers and fail to realize if he got hit once he was going to lose - it happened in every fight - survive the storm and you'll beat Tyson - Tyson was top 5 in the first round and that's where his legacy ends.

Ali would have worked Tyson, unless it was real early in Tyson's career. Then it would have been a killer fight..

tyson

They did a computer simulation with MA against Joe Louis and MA won all 15 rounds. Joe could not even get near MA.

Ali and Tyson 2 overated fighters with no quality opponents, Fraizer and Quarry were Cruiserweight, Foreman fought stupid.

Tyson was never that great a fighter. Ali would have killed him! He would have frustrated him no end and Mike would have gotten out of control and Ali with his long reach would have knocked him out.

Rail, no quality opponents?
Moore, Cooper, Liston, Ellis, Patterson, Terrell. And those were just the early years.

Ali would have carved Tyson up with the jab. Too fast to time and with Tyson's peekaboo style, Ali in a TKO.

Tyson 4-1 Ali 1-3

Tyson was great in his prime, might have beaten the Ali of after the thriller in manila. Ali was just unbeatable before his 2 year hiatus, although I saw somebody named Von Clay give him a very close fight in his young prime.
