Girlfriend sees this dog with a collar and broken leash running around near a busy intersectin last Tuesday nite and taes it home with her. The collar has a license number on it but no other identifacation other than the license number. The dog played all nite with our 2 dogs and seemed really happy.

Next moring she goes to the dog pound and they give her the name and address of this dog and it's owner. She knocks on door and at the door is an elderly man who never knew the dog was gone all nite. The dog is well fed but is a puppy and is 75 pounds and 6 months old. Owner lets the dog in the house and is totally put of it according to GF and the man smells really bad. She says he tells her to stop by anytime to see the dog.

Since this dog is near our home and on a busy road we have both drove by this home 10 times the past 5 days and EVERYTIME this dog is tied up to a post on the porch asleep or walking around. The leash is maybe 10 feet long. I now feel this dog never goes in the home or is giving any attention. Also the weather outside is shitty around here lately with snow and cold. I have seen worse but this is obviously the wrong match with old man and youg dog.

I am starting to feel sorry for this dog. I am pretty sure the owner is not all there. What would you do? We already have 2 dogs ourselves. The GF may go over there and see if the dog can come visit and the man said to stop by whenever she wanted. I almost am thinking about offering him money for the dog and finding a better home for it.

Is this any of my business? It sucks it's such a young dog and will probably be tied up to that porch forever. I have to also drive by him a couple times a day and see this and that makes me feel really bad for the dog.

I used to have this nieghbor, old harley guy,god rest his soul.

If he were to see what your describing he would of gone and probably been arrested taking that dog away from him.

But he looked like Rip VanWinkle and was a touch off and could get away with such behavior.

Tough call.

Steal the dog. Blow it. Then cook and eat it. Problem solved.

Then go over to the old man's house and blow him too.

Honesly, I would mind my own business. I am an animal lover too, and love dogs, but this is none of your business.

Until your GF finds it again in the middle of a busy street. Then don't take it back.
