Fucking murder these Aussies, only way to accomodate them is drinking heavily, which you know is my forte.:suomi: I have moved on to Perth after Three Weeks of stupification taking to Sydneysiders, and I thought the Irish were hard work:ughhh: At least I'm staying with an old Friend from London that knows the score. just a couple of updates on posts,

x,
As I've said before, the Wallopers take at least 10 Minutes to assess each game and pressure of traffic make this a pain in the arse. While it may show a profit at the mo, its not written in stone and further bets need to be analysied before asking for glory. While on the subject of systems its worth mentioning the POPEYE MATRIX which showed a good profit in MLB last season and has been tweaked for this season.:suomi:

Labeeb, my shrewd carib Friend pointed out the worth of the Windies in this world Cup, and the only reason I made no comment was that outside a concern of putting all their hopes on Gayle playing at a consistantly high level, they have a great chance. The other Side not mentioned was Sth Africa whom while holding much talent appear to find a way of losing these One day Games. At second Favourites they are also probably the worst value in the Competition, leaving Sri Lanka the value Bet. :drink:

You nailed it with the comment on Gayle. Wildly talented, but frustratingly inconsistent at times. He represents what could be the next great Windies batsman, with Lara possibly riding off into the sunset after this World Cup.

Normally I'd be very concerned with the pressures that this squad is having placed upon in, with people such as Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards weighing in with their expectation, however being at home with their backs against the wall has produced some of their more spectacular results in recent years, especially in ODIs.

I placed my order last night for the ICC WC on Directv and can not wait. I'm hoping that they are showing the various warmup matches.

Winny, I forgot to ask you your thoughts on the 20/20 game. I personally don't care for it at all. I understand why it's popular, but it's just not a representative game. ODI is perfect.

Labeeb,
I'm sick as a kangaroo's dick about the World Cup as I asked The wife could we go to the Caribbean instead of here, its not as if I dont know the culture, I've spent plenty of time in Earl's Court in London. come to think of it, it seems our aussie mates who were so full of themselves on here during the ashes have disappeared:ughhh: anyhow, your question on the 20-20 basically is the same for all sports to me, if you can find an edge who cares what it looks like. I've just found an earner in the British horseracing place markets on Betfair but normally these catches dont last long and new hunting grounds are sought after.
Hope all is going well with you on the Hosses front :drink:

The Windies will do well on home soil but they just don't have the bowling attack to win the big games. Taylor, Bradshaw and Bravo just won't cut it.

The Aussies have the best batting line-up by a country mile. They just need their bowlers to click and they'll win it in a canter, yet again.

I'm looking forward to seeing Tait cause some serious injuries against some of the lesser teams, who just won't be able to handle him.

When was the last time the Aussies toured the West Indies?

I certainly don't expect them to take on new pitches, even with training, and tame the best the world has to offer. Terrible betting proposition.

Looking for value will only bring you undone. Realistically there are probably only 2 or 3 chances, those being Australia, South Africa and India. The market reflects this, and is spot on in my opinion.

Those looking for value will look to teams like Sri Lanka and the windies, which is a mistake. Sri Lanka don't have the hitting and the windies don't have the bowling. Both teams are capable of a semi final birth, perhaps even a final if they over-achieve, but a victory is way too much to ask in a field of this quality.

Australia and South Africa are just so beautifully balanced from 1 to 11 and they don't need to rely on a couple of stars to perform. India's batting line-up looks amazing on paper and will take them a long way, but the aussies have shown them up time and time again in recent years. Some might argue that we are not as strong this time around, with the absence of Lee and possibly Symonds. But we do have Hussey, who was missing in '03 and is probably in the top 2 or 3 ODI batsmen in the world. And Ponting, the destroyer in the '03 final, is an even better player now than he was then, if that's possible.

Don't worry about our bowling. McGrath won't let anyone down in his final tournament and will become the leading World Cup wicket taker in the process. Bracken took more ODI wickets than anyone in the world last year. Stuart Clark will respond to the pressure just like he did when he was thrown into the deep end of the test arena. Shaun Tait will concede a few runs but he'll also break a few ribs. My only concerns for our bowling are the inconsistency of Johnson and Watson, but McGrath/Bracken/Clark will shoulder most of the resposibility anyway.

To answer your earlier question, the last time the aussies toured the Carribean was in 2002/03. We won the test series 3-1 (only a world record chase prevented a whitewash) and the ODI series 4-3. But this information is irrelevant anyway because apparently many of the grounds/wickets that will be used in the world cup are brand new, which means everyone will be in the same boat.

I find it amusing that Australia has blown from $2.50 to $3.25 after losing a few games away from home with half of their top side missing. It's laughable. If anything, it's the wake up call they needed. I must admit, the $2.50 on offer a month ago was a bit skinny, but the $3.25 you can get now is generous I believe.

Do yourselves a favour and don't be tempted to take the $8 or $9 on offer for the mediocre teams. It's a sucker bet.

Been here Three weeks now and I look like Tutem Kahmoon, cant wait to get back to the cooling rains of Ireland. :suomi:

Barney,
You speak good sense and thanks for your input but at +240 best to win the comp there is value in betting the rags, especially Sri Lanka with their spinning attack. Rickety Pointing a finger, said earlier that if winning the toss batting first could be key as utilising your bowling attack will be the difference of winning and losing. As always any bet I tip is strictly in the knowledge that one can hedge out on one of the Exchanges.

X,
The Popeye wasnt without its flaws but a bit of tweaking and adding some of the walloper better components, hopefully a better model will surface and profit will come forth. As always I'm not looking at a long term situation and a profit of 2000 sterling will make me give up on the year, something the Popeye Matrix gave last year quickly and hopefully this.

As for this Years NCAAB Championship, I'm locked into Washington St but as always with a view to hedge out for a Bonus Bet, from my reading they have a team of dont know when your beat winners, which is what you need in College play-offs.

Hopefully the NBA play-offs will mean The Walloper will get its first run in that sphere but caution is advised in following not only my nonsense but everyone on here. Always put a set amount aside for investing in any Jokers on here, including Me.:drink:

There's no denying that Murali is a genius. And Vaas is probably the most reliable seamer in the ODI game. But I just feel that they rely way too heavily on Jayasuriya getting off to a flyer... and if this doesn't happen, it's all up to Sangakkara to pick up the pieces. Their batting line-up is way too thin.

I really think that if the Aussies show some early form and knock off south africa in the pool stage, the $3.25 will be a distant memory.

I know it was only a warmup match, but I'm sure the South African squad is shaking its head after it's first again Ireland, narrowly squeaking out a victory. Being nabbed at 91 for eight isn't where anyone expected them to be...

At the same time, my Windies needed a century to win by a mere 21 runs over Kenya. Gayle did manage to go for 75.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the warm-up results. Way too much experimentation going on there, especially in the bowling department. It is, however, psychologically important for a team to develop a habit of winning before the tournament starts. Two easy victories for the aussies was critical after what happened in NZ.

The other results are less important though, I think. South Africa losing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka going down to NZ are just very minor bumps in the road. Getting rolled for 87 won't do the windies confidence much good though.
