Question about non-US credit cards, do most books take them?

I've been thinking about this today, do most books take credit card payments from non-US citizens? I see it advertised at almost all sportsbooks and casinos. Been thinking long and hard about the easiest way to move money around from book to book and was thinking that if most places take credit cards from overseas maybe it would help to try and get a credit card from a non US bank or CC company and use that like a neteller or other e-wallet. Is this possible to do? Wondering what the europeans do if they want to use a credit card.

Yes, books take them.

Being that you'll have no credit in Europe or wherever, you'll prob need a company you work for help vouch for one... Or start off with crap cards and low limits.

Debit cards work too...

My debit & credit cards -- Mastercards & Visas from BÁC San José, Costa Rica -- all work fine everywhere I've tried them (namely PokerStars, Party Poker and WSEX).

When I opened an account with BÁC, they required a bank reference from another Costa Rican bank though. Rather bullshit, so not sure you can setup an account while on vacation.

What I am more curious though is whether withdrawals will work thru the Visa debit card (in excess of amounts deposited). Haven't tried it yet. Stars claims it works with Visas from most European countries, but doesn't get more specific than that.

Sean,

Just a thought --- why not get an out of U.S. credit card ---- overpay the balance due several thousand, resulting in a "positive balance". Than move money in and out with charges (Book deposits) and refunds (cash outs).

Could make any out of U.S. credit card a neteller? Transactions would be under the radar?

What's wrong with this picture?

Cant you buy European PRE-PAID credit cards that are sure to work without a problem on Ebay or other places?

That's what I was thinking too MM. I checked out some overseas cards in Europe and all of them require residency in the UK. So I need to find a card that does not require an address in Europe. I wonder if they are require them or just certain ones. Seems like it would work ok as an ewallet

If you can open a Canadian bank acct. easily ---- don't they offer both debit and credit cards that could be used in this fashion? or Offshore banks?

You probably can but how do you get paid? I don't think you can get them credited back

getting paid is done by paper check.... these would be to deposit only, at least it resolves 1/2 the problem.

Most Canadian Credit Cards DO NOT allow gambling at many companies, some do, but not all.

Yeah I know, I'm looking for something that I can use for deposits and withdrawls. A replacement for neteller. I've got spoiled the last few years I guess. I'm thinking the credit cards would work if they were non-US or Canadian if you say some of them will not work

The Mastercard I do have that works anywhere is great for deposits, however, they dont allow paybacks to the card.

I still have to collect via another vehicle.

Never used a credit card for deposits. Do they show on your bill as a cash advance, with associated fees?

I thought books insisted on credit card chargebacks equal to credit card deposits before they would pay out any other way.

Can you deposit up to your full credit line --- i.e. multiple thousands--- or is there some limit imposed somewhere?
