They've got all these fucking channels, it's the time of year for College ball, and i'm sitting here having to watch a replay of VMI-High Point instead of the first round of the CAA Tournament.

Why the fuck are you showing a replay?
Stop showing bowling, bodybuilding, and First & Ten and start showing these mid-major tournaments.
I mean why else would you create ESPNU?

It actually doesnt have anything to do with ESPN. Most of the time it has to do with the conferences and their contracts. Such as ACC and SEC with Raycom/Jefferson, most major conferences are locked in and ESPN cant get into it. If you notice in the ACC tourney its going to be blackouts on ESPN when it will be on the local ACC affiliates stations.

CAA has local affiliates that are showing the games but you have to search them out but ESPN will show the 'ship.

They are streaming the games on caasports.com D.

But other than that D, ESPN is stupid.

fuck all that, not like CAA or MVC have contracts, and if they do, ESPN could easily kick some moeny to the local channels to pick up the games. Bottom line is ESPN gets all of the conference championships for these mid-majors but may be too cheap to get the rest of the games.

Easy big fella. I'm just reporting and you decide (C) Fox News.

CAA and MVC do have TV contracts (even though they are kinda weak). CAA and MVC will show the games in the local markets and they usually come on Fox Sports Net Affiliates.
I know CAA in particular have a game of the week type scenerio on Saturday or maybe another day during the week.

Fox isnt going to give up those rights to ESPN.

yeah i wasn't attacking you, just saying it's BS.

I'm local right now for CAA (D.C. should be considered local) and i'm not getting shit. oh i take it back. CSN is showing the women's conference tourney for ACC.

Yeah, I agree to a point. But the fact of the matter here is that youre going to have a whole lot of games this weekend (regular season and conference tourney games) and there is no way that you can start showing some of the tourney games today and not show the Quarters tommorrow and Semis on Sunday.

Do you think any network in their right mind would bump an ACC, Big East or SEC (albeit regular season game) for a VCU/Drexel Semi game?

On another note, DC has some of the worst sports coverage in the country. There are times in which you have to scour almost the whole cable system to find a Georgetown or Maryland Basketball game. And dont even get me started about a Nats or a Wizards game.

Right. Don't get me started either. *shaking my head*

Granted I only have basic cable so I can only blame myself, but I work from home on every few Fridays and today was my day home. I looked to see what sports events would be on this afternoon... nothing, except a rerun on ESPN Classic of Texas A&M/Texas 2 days ago. It was a good game, sure, but ahem... think I want something "live", please. :)

Not only that, looks like other than DET/MIA NBA game later on ESPN tonight, only "other live game" is on ESPN Classic, a CIAA (what conf is it!?) game of St. Augustine's vs Virginia Union. I don't even know there were teams like those.... apparently after searching on ESPN.com, Virginia Union is Div II and that Ben Wallace is from there. Interesting.. but whatever.
