I will have a definite answer for you later in week but I have been talking to another guy and we have compared and I think it is Don Best (the expensive one).

But then the question is if the difference in update speed is significant enough for Don Best to be worthwhile (if price is an issue)?

Don Best Premium is "real" time. I have used it faithfully since 1996. Good Luck

have you compared and can you beat most books off a DB big move? How much time between the big move at a book beofre the steam hits 90% of the books and the move is over?

Do you book or bet?You must obviously feel it is worth it, right?

I am really interested in going with the expensive DB service (I use the $100 a month or so one now) if it is the best and yes it would be worth the $650 a month or whatever it is to me.

Iceman, tough question. The days of beating different shops to a # are basically over because most books move on "air." This wasn't the case 5 or 6 years ago. The Don Best Premium feed works better with sleepy locals. Once the screen blacks out it is too late. This is why you must figure out where the "steam" is coming before it hits the screen or you will always be behind the 8 ball. I like your enthusiasm. Good Luck

I Had Both During The Football Season...one Of My Pc Was Running Don Best And The Other Was Running G And J

Did Not See Much Diff///// Don Something Had A Move 20 Sec Before G And J...most Of The Time It Happen At The Same Time...

The One That Give Me G And J Was Gino(owner And Runs The Software) In Return He Would Get My Plays Before I Posted Them

As We All Know I Had A Bad Year So He Cut Me Off After The 1st Of The Year

Dollar For Dollar G And J Is The Best Buy

Just My 2 Cents

Substantially behind, and only covers sponsor books.. it's not in the same market as DB/GJ, it's more competing with things like SBR, and I'm not sure it competes well with that atm.

imo Don Best is the way to go as for the rx freebie the only good book is cris and you need some better book lines in it.also you need sound when lines change, you need time on game scores, you need some vegas book to compare with offshore etc imo too.you need all the games like foots.bb,hockey, boxing etc on the same page....ck

Viejo, I just read in another thread you are associated with CRIS. You are definitely worth your salt. However, you are clearly in the minority the way you book. Continued success and good luck.

Don Best is better, but it better be with the jack dished out.

I agree with Ace, G and J does the job and is a better bargain...

To anyone that wants to do their own comparison:

Call the offices of GJUpdate and tell them you are a Don Best subscriber. Tell them you would like a test drive to compare side by side with Don Best. Make your own conclusion. Most of the books pretty much get changes at the same time. I can tell JD has actually done a comparison because he is accurate in his statement. Our cascade used to be faster than DB, and when they moved over to their new software something got out of whack. Fortunately they are working with us to correct the problem so that issue will be fixed very soon.

G&J and DB share 13 books in common

Here is my honest take:

Faster on GJ

Pinny (by minutes)
Greek (and more accurate)
Grande (seconds)
Buckeye (seconds)
Catalina (seconds)
5Dimes (by minutes)
BetJM (by minutes)
LasPalmas (seconds)

Same time on both

Jazz
Sportbet
Skybook
SBG

Faster on Don Best

CRIS (seconds - maybe 3)
Cascade (our feed is terrible as stated)

That is the honest truth. And it can be backed up by taking both for a test drive and comparing for yourself. Bottom line is that you have at least got to try it. It costs you nothing and could end up saving you a lot of money in the long run. In fact, if you do end up liking it, and become a new customer mention theRX and get 2 months for the price of one.

G&J is the quickest and most affordable. I have used both and currently only use G&J and will continue to only use G&J. Iceman I do the same thing as you do. I use the penny lein exclusively for first halfs and second halfs and play the line moves within an hour of game time. I never have trouble beating the moves with the slower books.
