Definitely up there. One of best single horse performances of all time. But realize that the margin of victory was deceiving. The other horses didn't run a lick that day, including Sham...So put it against other great Belmont performances and he still wins by 10 lengths, but not by 31. Still great.

I've made the case other places that I feel Spectacular Bid was a better horse than Secretariat----akin to terroistic threat to some people. LOL.

Nope I believe it is 2:24 and change for Sec and the next closest is 2:26(roughly 10 lengths). Give me a chance to find it.

Speed records that have lasted over 3 decades by those margins , not sure if there is anything more impressive than what that horse did.

Easy Goer. 2:26. And don't forget we don't know how fast the track was playing of Sec's day unless I got a better peak at the undercard and the days leading up to it....Mind you I'm just trying to put the race in perspective, not knock him. (I just think people get caught up in 31 lengths and they shouldn't)

Try Bid's 1:57 10 furlong record which still stands today....Mind you, 10 furlong races are run all the time. 12 furlong races are run a handful of times a year.

Why i think the Derby was more impressive, the second place horse set a record that day too....and look where Secretariat started that race, dead last...and improved with each qtr of the race over the previous qtr.

Not a clip but a real life story

Does that count..............LOL

Well I used to be a Raider fan till Big Al moved them.

One game of many memories, see if you go back this far.

Play off game,Clevland Ohio playing the Browns in the ice bowl.

Plunkett ran for a TD for the only TD in the game as the conditions were atritious.

Score is 10-9 Raiders and Browns are in the redzone 2 minute drill.

3rd down and Brian Sipes (QB's called there own plays in the good old days)decides to take a shot in the endzone instead of running up the middle and kick the FG.

He throws into the endzone and you don;t know wtf happened and then you see the Raiders picking Mike Davis up off the ground in jubulation and he FUCKING INTERCEPTED the ball.............Was better than sex.

Folks had a cabin in Tahoe had money on the game and I was addicted to betting from that day on.

And we went on to beat Dan Fouts the next week and Eagles in the SB!!!!

I thought you were talking about the Belmont race. Yes the Derby was terrific for Sec....But again, showing how fast tracks make their big days has to be accounted for. Monarchos in 2001 holds the 2nd fastest Derby time ever which is ridiculous. What most don't realize is that Non-winners of 2 race fillies! were breaking track records that day. Pavement which ruined the careers of many great horses that day while ruining records as well.

Not exactly "exciting" per se, but one that gives me the most goose bumps is Al Michael's "Do you believe in miracles?" call at the end of 1980 US-USSR hockey game.
