Imagine any other sport having a year end regular season tournament to crown their conference champion and give them a spot in the playoffs. Pure stupidity!!!!

I cant believe the NCAA allows these conference tourney winners into their big dance.

I say still have a tournament for each conference and have the comittee take into effect these games when determining who gets in but as far as giving away one of 64 spots based on a 3 game winning streak and have it mean more than the rest of the body of work is just dumb.

Disagree, it all works out perfectly.

Teams fight all conference season to get a good seed in the conference tourney, to give them an easier road to win the conference championshp and a bid in the NCAA tournament. Teams that faulter during the regular season still have a chance its just a tougher road.

The beauty of college basketball is that your team is never out of it. Unlike college football, if you perform when it counts the most, in March, you will still be alive no matter how your season went in the regular season.

Its all heart at this point. If you win your conference tourney, I think you earned the spot in the NCAAs

Earning your way into the supposed best 64 teams in the nation (or as close ot it as possibile) should be based on your whole body of work not a hot weekend.

Just another way for the NCAA to make more money. Lets face it that is the only reason this is being done.

I love the idea...
Nothing like seeing a 10-18 team win their way to the big dance....JMO

nothing cheap about winning your conference tournament

strongly disagree. It is the definiton of cheaping the season. To me a team that handles the trials and tribulations of a 2 1/2 month stretch of basketball and comes out with the best record is who should be representing their conference. Not some mockery of the seaon crammed into 3 days out of pure greed.

Just wait to selection Sunday when a few teams get screwed out of their spots by some conference tournament champion who goes 12-18.

Why even keep records? Just play a tournament every week for a month and have all the tourney champs meet in a tournament of champions.

Man...

If any teams get knocked out by a team that won their conference tourney to get in, they have nobody to blame but themselves. They had a whole season to have a better record, they had their conference tourney to seal the deal, and they didn't do it.

Plus, they would have been a high seed anyway, so who cares.

CBB has it right, CFB has it wrongggg

Winthrop would get in anyway, and I don't understand what you are trying to say.

If VMI won and it took say, Clemson's spot in the NCAAs....I'm totally fine with that, because like every team that you could probably put in Clemsons spot, they were atrocious in their last 10-15 games and lost in the first round of the ACC tourney.

No guarantee Winthrop gets in if they lose as a 20-point fav at home (which almost happened).
