Just heard on the radio that Brad Delp was found dead in his apartment at the age of 55. Foul play is not suspected.

Wikipedia
Delp auditioned for the position as lead vocalist for Boston, and got the job immediately. He also contributed back-up vocals, guitar, and keyboards on the Boston albums, and also plays the harp. His strong voice and partnership with guitarist Tom Scholz lead to some great songs. Delp was also lead vocalist for the band Return to Zero, a band created by former Boston member Barry Goudreau. Delp also performed with Goudreau on a recent album.

DAMN!VERY SAD

ATKINSON, N.H. -- Brad Delp, the lead singer for Boston, a huge rock sensation in the 1970s, was found dead Friday in his home, police said. He was 55.

Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Police Lt. William Baldwin said in a statement the death was "untimely" and that there was no indication of foul play.

Delp apparently was alone at the time of his death, Baldwin said.

The cause of his death remained under investigation by the Atkinson police and the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday.

Delp fronted the rock band, who rose to fame in the late 1970s and had several hits, including "More than A Feeling." The group sold millions of records.

Wow. That sucks ass to hear that. Condolences out to his family...

That 1st Boston album was always one of my favorites/ Hard not to crank up Peace of Mind to this day, no matter how many times I've heard it. The guitar work is tremendous, but Brad's voice compimented it a tee. Both he and Schulz were equally responsible for their success. I feel a lot older hearing this. I can remember my mom driving a friend and I to see Boston when I was just 15. The tour was in support of Don't Look Back. I've been to a lot of concerts over my lifetime, but the memory from my youth of seeing them come out on stage playing Rock and Roll Band is a rush I'll never forget...

RIP

Boston is the self-titled debut album by American rock band Boston. The album broke fast, with several blockbuster hard rock hits. All eight of the songs on the album still receive regular airplay on classic rock radio. Taking a mere 2 months to earn an RIAA Gold Record Award 1976 and then a Platinum Award (1,000,000 in unit sales) after 3 months, it was the fastest selling debut album for any American group; and has the most total sales for a debut album with over 17 million units sold to date. In subsequent 10 years the record continuted to sell very well reaching 9 million in sales in 1986 and has contunied to receive multi-platinum awards through the present. Creem Magazine voted the album cover art one of the Top Ten Album Covers in 1977.

Lead singer of band Boston dies

ATKINSON, N.H. -- Brad Delp, the lead singer for the band Boston, was found dead Friday in his home in southern New Hampshire. He was 55.
Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Police Lt. William Baldwin said in a statement the death was "untimely" and that there was no indication of foul play.
Delp apparently was alone at the time of his death, Baldwin said. Police said he was found by his fiancee, whom he planned to marry this summer.
"Everything seemed to be normal," Police Chief Philip Consentino told WMUR-TV. "There was nothing disrupted in the house. He was a fairly healthy person from what we're able to ascertain."
The cause of his death remained under investigation by the Atkinson police and the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office. Police said it would be a week before they received toxicology reports.
Delp sang vocals on Boston's 1976 hits "More than a Feeling" and "Longtime." He also sang on Boston's most recent album, "Corporate America," released in 2002.
He joined the band in the early 1970s after meeting Tom Scholz, an MIT student interested in experimental methods of recording music, according to the Boston's official Web site.
The band's last appearance was in November 2006 at Boston's Symphony Hall. The group had planned a tour this summer and was holding rehearsals.
On Friday night, the Web site was taken down and replaced with the statement: "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."
A call to the Swampscott, Mass., home of Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau was not immediately returned Friday night.
Delp also played for a Beatles tribute band, "Beatlejuice."
"He'd stay there and sign every autograph. And if he saw you, he'd wave to you or say 'hi' to you when he saw you in the audience," said Alma Harty, who lived across the street from him.
Jim Roach, a friend of Delp's and promoter for "Beatlejuice," called him the "anti-rock star" because he'd stay afterward at concerts to talk to people and was active in charity work.
"He truly loved what he did," Roach told WMUR.

tom schultz was the MIT guy . i dont think delp went there.

brad delp , in my mind had the cleanest , crispest voice in the history of rock and roll.

a couple of the songs from his RTZ album sounded unreal.

download " until your love comes back around " and you hear what i mean.

never heard a voice like his before and probably never will again.

Tom didnt use computers, this was all written in the early 70's...he did play every note of every instrument with the exception of some drum fills in the 1st album.....some of the guitars you hear are him playing the same notes , then adding 50 or 60 tapes of the same thing and playing them all at the same time....so what you hear him playing is really a guitar orchestra which is y they never really caught on live....it was impossible to recreate the sound live...
Tom spent the next 25 years trying to come up with equipment which could duplicate his sound....he came up with the "Rockman" a small device that went thru a zillion reincarnations but none ever really duplicated his sound....
When Delp quit the band for god knows whatever reason he coulda had to ruin this great gig, Tom spent the next 15 years trying to replace him...He never even came close to doing that....
