An ex-friend of mine stuck my local for 3 grand after I told my guy he was good for it. Nothing happened, my boy never paid up. I felt like a complete asshole though

Had an incident recentley when my local thought he cut me off from a prominent OS book....turns out though they just limited my action and I preceded to go on a 2 day 11-0 run at the reduced limit.

Dude was pissed and said I was cut off and should not have still been betting and alluded to the fact I was fuced.....I politely told him that that was his problem, if you book a bet you pay a bet and also reminded him it was illegal to book a bet in the States. He paid me the next day.

A guy i used to work with stiffed a book for over $4,000. I knew this bookie and he wasn't anyone to fuch with. In fact, the bookie told me "i will get my money" Well about 3 months later, i go to work and find out Gary and his buddy were in the hospital. They both got pistol whipped. Here is what happen. Gary, who stiffed the bookie, and his best buddy who was a manager of a sports bar, closed up and went to another after hours bar. A routine thing they did every Saturday. They had the receipts from the sports bar in his car. This hot chick comes in and sits next to them. They strike up a conversation and after a couple hours of drinking, she tells them to take her to a motel and they will never forget this night. Well, Gary and Jim can't get out the door fast enough with her. When they get in the motel, she is the last one in and she pretends to lock the door but doesn't. Two minutes later, 2 men come in with their guns, and tie Gary and Jim up and tells them to lay on their stomach. One of them takes jim's keys and take his bag of money from the car. They also take their wallets. Gary is telling me this story and i can see the fear in his eyes. Gary said that while he is laying there waiting for them to leave, they come over and pistol whip him. Then, he hears The gun go off. He figured they had shot Jim and he was next. he said his whole body was shaking. But they just fired a shot toward the ceiling and they left. I said "do you think it was Bainy". Bainy was the bookie. He said he ddin't know, but he was going to call Bainy and make payments. He said the woman was right about one thing. It was a night they will never forget. Do i think it was the bookie? Hell yes i do.

Played with a local throughout college...whenever I lost, I paid, and vice-versa. College students never have a dime to their name...so Mr Local and I agreed to meet up when a total reached $500 one way or another. I was in the hole maybe 600 or 700 at a given time, so I called on a Monday to make an arangement for the week to meet up. I worked some OT at school the previous week, so I had the money and had every intention of paying him as usual. But the phone number was suddenly coming up as disconnected, and I couldn't track him down. I asked another player of his what happened to him, and he couldn't get ahold of our local either. This guy was a kid whose parents had pretty deep pockets...he told me he was down 10 grand, and I believed him. But he always paid.

Basically, I have not heard that local again to this day (it's been at least 10 years now). And neither did the other player, so something serious must have happened to our guy.

Not sure if that qualifies as a stiff, but it seemed relevant...

I bet a horse with a local that paid 24.80. On Monday he told me he didn't take that track and that his phone guy didn't know. I never got the money but for about 5 saturdays and sundays after that, my good friend that worked in the phone company made sure he didn't have phones for the weekends. Who knows how much more he lost not paying off my horse bet.

guys how would you handle?
i have been stiffed twice and stiifed a local last summer for 800

i was down 800 with a settle up at 500 every sunday. I called at twelve o clock to get my baseball bets up and we had a deal that if he didn't answer phn, we would use the closing line at scores and odds. i called him over 20 times that day with my bets and he didn't answer the phone and voice mail was full. i was pissed if he wouldn't answerd the phone i would have only been down like 250 instead of 800. He called me tuesday to collect and i told him he was full of shit, that i needed a way to get my bets in win or lose. he states his phn was never full, i have phn bill with over 20 calls made to it from cell.

800 owed, would take him 1/2 now, but this situation pissed me off
right now, it's a stiff job

so you didn't get your bets in, and you refuse to pay on previous losses unrelated to those bets? If you couldn't phone your bets in then find another local, but you sure as hell should pay up before leaving. You act as if he knew you would be phoning in winning bets.

I am sorry, but you have to pay the guy the full 800 or you are scum. Simple as that.
