i've tried and avoid it. its a total pain which ended with Moneygram sending me an e-mail that they "can't do the transfer". and during the process you talk to someone on the phone asking you questions like who are you sending money to, why, etc.

westernunion.com is 10x easier/quicker

I have bad experiences wt MoneyGram. Bought the MG cashier chks, when my guy tried to cash it at his bank, it got reject, now I'm trying to recover from MG, went to their website had to fill out a form for each MG cashier chks mailed it in, and it's been 6 wks and still haven't heard from 'em.

It's high 4 figures that I'm jibbed :bunnies: and MG haven't return to me. Guess will have to hire a lawyer to go after their asses. :smoking:

Unless the book offers a moneygram expresspayment(going to a company), it will most likely get blocked if its going to a person to person in Costa Rica or Nicaragua. I've sent over 20 expresspayments this year with no probs. I just tried 2 person to persons and both got restricted. They eventually released it but I had to call in....a hassle. I would stick with WU for now.

all of this is if you were doing it online by the way. I've sent moneygram from a location (to just one book, betjam) and it's real easy. you won't be sending it to a person either, but a company in Dallas,Tx. Just provide a 4 digit receiver code instead of the 3 different Spanish names a western union receiver would have you usually provide. the fees are 10x cheaper than WU as well, but books cover those fees anyway.
