I mean you could try and cap a game to the best of your abilities, but it seems that luck and Referees are just too big of a factor overcome!!! I mean the last 5 hockey games that I 've bet on that went into in a talent competition I've lost them all!!!! And tonight there's no fvckin way the caps should have lost to the Bruins. Fvck the refs put the caps down two men to let the bruins get back in the game!! Last night an early whistle costed the Flames a goal. FVCK the refs are almost never a factor in hockey!!!! To top it off Semin hits the post with an open cage, late in the game... Christ what's the use!!!! 5 straight shootout loses FVCK!!!!!!!!! I guess I gotta try tennis and golf, best sports to cap 'cause no referees!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you really had a PHD in sports, you wouldn't be thinking like that

it all evens out man, if the refs cost you a game, they will give you a game also

if you aren't good enough just quit

Golf is even more prone to luck (weather, bad bounces etc.) Tennis HAS referee/linesmen, and bad calls do happen there too.

Long term outlook is key; like someone said you win some, you lose some.

Even though I went 3-1 today I'm starting to believe Basketball is bullshit..

Tired of having +10 and losing by 5pts with 40 secs left and losing.

Not trying to come down on you guys but this stuff does even out and if you dont think it does than you are betting to high.

I know that I put around 1,200 - 1,500 units a month into action and try to make between 2-5% off of them and hit around 53-56%. How you get there should not matter. You will beat yourself up if you beliveve otherwise.

This is the exact reason I keep talking about shopping your ass off for the best numbers because that extra half point here and there is what seperates everyone in the longterm.

It has always cracked me up when someone says well the number comes into play only x amount of times or the number doesnt even come into play much. That statement proves to me that guy is not winning and I guarantee it.

This game of gambling has very little room for error and every little edge matters on and off the court. All you can do as a gambler is get the best number, if you do that than you will find yourself beating yourself up alot less because you know you did all you could do to win.

Look at everything longterm (500 bets or so) and the results will not lie, if you are betting good you will be ahead and luck and all that stuff will not really matter.

it does take luck over the short term, but if you are able to watch the players and have a knack for scouting the talent, that is how you easily win long term, without grinding your ass off, assuming you enjoy watching the games anyway. This is also how you win big on 2nd halves where the scouting really comes into play.

Good post, my downfall is that I personalize my battle with my bookmaker!!! I want to smash his bankroll (and his face) I know it sounds childish, but man last year was having a great baseball season, then I ran into my bookie with my ex at a bar, and he made a wise crack of me buying him his car. And it worked, I went on tilt, chased everything and got crushed!!!( I did have him on the ground begging me not to pulverise his face in, but damn he got the last laugh) But thanks for the advice, I gotta think long term, or just throw in the towel

Any one game is almost all luck. It's always been that way in every form of gambling. The only way to win long-term is with discipline. The margin of advantage, if you are able to gain one, is still tiny. Always will be. That's why gamblers=losers, for the most part.

i agree gambling is mostly luck. no real skill involved in handicapping a game that can be determined by a ref or a crazy play at the end.

if gambling was all luck than I know some of the luckiest people on earth. Bottom line, the harder you work the luckier you get.
