WB, now they are not only going for tea, crumpets & lunch at halftime,
but also drinking on the job?! I can see the 2H unders being a gold mine
like the Nuggets' were a couple years ago. In London does the Queen
join the boys at the "break" for an Earl Gray? Unlike the American
version why do Cricketers {named after an insect?} carry the bat with
them when they run the bases? Over here you can toss it in the
direction of the opposing team.

Because you can't be thrown out if your foot or bat is inside the crease. Besides it would be unseemly to grovel in the dirt and soil your whites, to say nothing of destroying the wicket and making the spinners job easier.

In the traditional 3 and 5 (for tests) day game not only is there a break for lunch but also for dinner.

Why don't you go the Stanley Park sometime and check out a game?

I actually played this game once, as i had a friend from England
who got me connected as a sub {as well as playing a British
version of monopoly w English names instead of Park Place and
Boardwalk, etc}. Couldn't believe they called me out after a
couple pitches...it must have barely nicked the wood w/o my
awareness. This was back in grade 4...a couple years ago. :drink:

An opening Batsman walked with his bride through an archway of Cricket Bats aftrer the Ceremony, at the reception his wife asked what the Team-mates would have held up if he was a Bowler. :drink:

The fearless Brian Close was fielding at the dangerous Short Leg before helmets were introduced when the ball bounced off his head and was caught in the slips. After he had regained consciousness the Doctor asked him " do you know what would have happened if that ball had hit you Two Inches more to the left" dizzily Brian replied " he would have been caught in the gully instead of slips" :drink:
