Dollar amount means absolutely nothing when posting plays. And even better is when they cut and paste the ticket into the thread and that's supposed to prove that they have a large wager when anyone can just change the amount. Units and record is all that really matters.

Harrington..It is mostly new posters that feel that need, and I think they do it to come across bigger than they are. I agree it is Wins and Loses thats all that really matters

Probaly to be taken more serouisly, if someone bets a lot more people will think they know what they're talking about and if they cut and paste it people wont say they're fukll of shit.

Or mabe they just want some attenion which is probaly the case most times.

many posters often try to elude as to how succesful they are, how much money they have, what kind of cars they drive etc etc.

I imagine it makes people feel better about themsleves.....

I also think the over age of the forum has gotten younger so we are seeing a bit more immaturity out there....

Most posters who post plays seemingly don't even know what a unit is, or what the purpose of a unit-system is.

If the true definition is that it is 1% of your bankroll, then how can one have 50 unit plays daily?

Or is that not the definition?

EXACTLY!!!

when you post plays in UNITS, it means absolutely NOTHING, ZILTCH, ZERO unless you also describe what a UNIT means to you.

The generally accepted definition (IMO) is 1 unit = 1% of bankroll.....

this brings us to the next question, what is the definition of bankroll?

any poster who lists a dollar amount for his plays is lying .

every damn one of them...

i would be willing to bet the average bet size for anything posted in the sports rooms is less than $ 100 .

The worst IMO is the guys who have 50 units on one game and then still post 1-3 unit games...I mean WTF, are you really betting 50 and 1 unit games, I sure hope not, but why would you even say you are?

Anyone remember:

The clown stated he put 50k on an AI prop bet.

Not looking to start a war of words but if one is betting a system and has lost a few games in a row, I can see how and why a person would be upping their unit. Just pointing out, not everyone wagers or `caps the same way. The best thing I've discovered about this forum is there is a diverse group of folks who excel at one or two sports but do slightly better than juice on the others. Finding those who do well for their sport(s) is the key. The previous sentence reminds me about a thread started by "?" about 10-11 maybe even 12 months ago, in which the original thread said to "toot your own horn" for what you've listed (mind you, those weren't the exact words, but most should get the general direction) - going to see if I can find that thread. :drink:

I'm not sure what you're getting at...toot your own horn?

My point was, no one should be betting 1 unit and then 50 units, period....and certainly not on a regular basis.

'give me the Knicks for 10 dollars'

'oh and give me the Mavericks for 500 dollars'

You cannot possibly like a game 50 more times than another game you're betting on.

Exactly, I don't understand these unlimited bankrolls either.

BTW if UCLA wins I make a million :dancefool :pope:

It might be helpful if those small plays are just for action, and not serious
investment plays, that such posters say so. ACE-ACE, for an example,
distinguishes between these two types in his NFL wagering. He might
have a strong play for $5000 and then a fun wager for $200.
