I do if something is big enough.. like for example if I had a 5 game parlay worth $5000 needing the Knicks (ml) when they were playing against say the Jazz. I would bet like $3000 to win $1000 (or whatever it is) to guarentee a profit.
If the Knicks won I would win $5000 - $3000 = $2000
If the Jazz won I would win $1000.
All depends upon the size of parlay, funds avalible at the time, how much u like the remaining play on the parlay, and how much of a gambler you are.

Considering parlays give you worse odds for each successive team you bet, you should NEVER hedge a parlay -- you should have bet less games for your parlay in the first place!
I hedge on things I can't control the variance on, like March Madness pools--I'll start betting against my champ if I'm getting towards the end and I'll cash if my team wins.
Or if I catch a bad line or an incomplete scalp or something on a game I don't care about, I'll hedge later to reduce variance.

what about hedging out of plays at Halftime ?
eveytime i get the chance i never do and it seems like i would always get the middle or I would sometimes lose my Wager (mainley basketball) teams look great at the Half then Implode in the 2nd half.
and if i do ever try to hedge or middle at the Half i lose lol
