Worthy, Jordan, Perkins, Ewing.... Fred Brown's mistake pass to Worthy in last seconds, how many of you guys remember that historic game?

John Thompson showed a lot of class at the end of that game consoling Fred Brown, he had to have been numb inside.

I know everyone talks about evolution and that game was 25 years ago but that was one hell of a Carolina team , and same with the Hoyas.

That was the game Ewing was blocking shot after shot being called for goaltending, he was jacked up high as a kite swatting anything he could get his hand on.

Good call PublicsMoney,
Doherty was probably the easy one. Jimmy Black a little more obscure. If memory serves me correctly wasn't Black an assistant coach at ND? Don't know if it was during Doherty's time there.

solid 5, Black was a solid PG and Doherty wasn't a slouch either.

Nice article :103631605 . Had forgotten about that JMU game. I remember they used to flood the court with streamers after the first basket and take a technical.

Maybe the best day in the history of bookmaking for bookmakers.........at least on the East Coast of the United States where the line was PICK MINUS ONE on both sides......know some boys that still celebrate that evening. At least I pushed with Carolina........:lolBIG: :lolBIG: :lolBIG: !!!!!!!!!!

It will be interesting to see the exact opposite styles clash and see which side controls tempo.... As well as if GT can keep up with UNC's speed, I feel that will be the problem for GT in the end, and UNC will win in the end.

I remember two things vividly about this game. 1) This is back when the Academy Awards were broadcast at the same time as the Championship game. 2) After Worthy stole the famous errant pass, he was fouled and then missed both fee throws, giving North Carolina a one point win. The betting line around the country was mostly 1.5 or 2. Believe it or not, I have records that go that far back. Good Luck

I read that earlier in the thread CapnCrunch said many bookies dished out the old 'pick-1' line that was real popular 20+ years ago.

That would have been a tough pill , UNC-1.5 and catch the ultimate break only to see 'Big Game' James blow both FTs !!! eeegad!
