Drilling shot after shot to start the 4th quarter. Just 14 points shy of 50 and you know he will take enough shots to get there.

Doing most of his work against crappy teams with poor Ds. New Orleans is the only serious team he's faced and they aren't close to a challenger for the title. It's impressive what he's doing, but people need to remember that all these points he's scoring and they are barely beating horrible teams.

...as opposed to losing to those horrible teams - which is exactly what his sad sack team was doing before he started taking every shot.

I wonder how many assists the rapist had last night.

Let's check. Could it be, zero?

Yes indeed.

Truly great players (Jordan, Bird, Magic) make the players
around them better.

Kobe the rapist does not.

That's pretty much my train of thought. He's great at making himself look good but doesn't know how to elevate his teammates yet. That's why he doesn't win games without Shaq. He's very good on offense and defense but it's the little things that he doesn't do that quietly lose games.

MJ career assists per game = 5.3
Kobe career assists per game = 4.5

Unless there's alot hidden in 0.8 assists, you might want to try again.

LOTS of difference in that .8.

Jordan took better shots, got his teammates more involved with open looks, rebounded more, shot free throws more efficiently, and turned the ball over slightly less.

Kobe is not and will never be Jordan. He's still a good player on both ends, I just am not sold that he is committed to winning, nor if he can without Shaq leading the team and making it easy to win.

Jake, does it matter at all in your thinking who the supporting cast is? I mean Kobe has Odom and.....well, he has Odom. (And that's only when he's healthy!) Do you really think MJ would be taking less shots on this roster than Kobe? Or producing more wins? If so, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it - but I will never be swayed.

I think MJ would be taking the same amount of shots as Kobe, just winning more games and involving his teammates more. Kobe's offense and defense are top notch, like I said I think it's the small things he needs to work on if he wants to win alot of games and do anything come playoff time.

All-stars (Odom) have played with Kobe, they've just all stunk when they go there. Once they leave, they put up the stats (Butler). I honestly think playing with Kobe does it.

MJ made some no-name guys into household names. Kobe just doesn't do that.

Jordan is so great...... has a .480 win percentage without Pippen and failed to lead the Wizards to the playoffs in the weak east.

Same guys who despise Kobe probably love Barkley.... the same guy who spat on a lil girl during a game and threw a guy through a plate glass window at a restaurant. Great guy.

Well....there's Kobe on 1/22....and Mike Miller (Overtime) on 2/21...and Kobe on 3/25....but I'm sure Jake will have an explanation for why no-one else has too.

Golden St routinely gives up like 120 points. Most other teams just spread the ball around. There are alot of players who could drop 50 on them if their coaches let them stay in the game and they wanted to shoot a ton.

Are you really trying to compare a 40 year old Jordan to Bryant? Weak.
Kobe is great, but until he does something without Shaq (Western Conf Champ Appearance?) without Shaq, he doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence with Jordan.

Who cares if he were 40? He was still scoring at will and scored 50 couple of times. Yet couldn't even make the playoffs in the weak east where teams under .500 were making it.What did Jordan do without Pippen exactly? He couldn't even take his teams to the conference finals... which Pippen did without Jordan.

Too funny. Always love the "they could if they tried...." arguments.
