Were sportscasters lying about NBA miracle shot?

On the NBA Golden State Warriors at LA Lakers game, the sportcasters were talking about this miracle shot that I can't believe ever could have happened.

Lakers lead by 2 points with only 0.6 seconds left for GS Warriors to tie or win the game. GS actually got the 3 point attempt off but it rimmed off, giving the Lakers the game. Now, I though 0.6 sec is totally impossible to get a shot off, much less have a chance of winning, but the Warriors actually got their 3 point attempt off. However, the sportcasters were talking about another game where a team actually won a game with only 0.4 sec left on the clock.

How is that even possible? 0.4 sec seems like way too little time for a team to get a shot off and win a game. I mean once it goes in bounds, isn't the game automatically over? Can anyone confirm that that has actually happened before in an NBA game? Do you remember what teams they were and when it happened?

.4 is how much time you need to catch and shoot by rule in the NBA and college...

.3 you can only tip the ball in

I'm sure its happened. You can catch and shoot with .4 seconds. Anything less there is only time for a tip. This is basically in the rule books.

Crap. 0.4 secs. That's unbelievable. Didn't think it was possible.

You have to remember that the clock doesn't start until a player touches it. That's why you see players rolling the ball up the floor late in games to conserve time.

How does rolling the ball on the floor conserve time? Why not make a regular bounce pass and wait as long as possible before picking it up? What's the point of ROLLING?

A bounce pass that you just let bounce can be easily taken away...if it's rolling slowly you're still in complete control and can pick it up right away if someone threatens to steal it
