Some guy in my office was just telling me he plays there with $ through his paypal account. He said he plays Spades and Solitaire.

There has to be a few of you who played at this site. What the hell is it? How is it legal?

If you are playing from outside the United States:

Beginning in 2005, WorldWinner is required to determine your residency and citizenship in order to comply with U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations. All foreign citizens are subject to a U.S. tax withholding of 30% on net winnings (your competition winnings minus non-play credit, real money entry fees for those competitions which resulted in winnings to you). In order to ensure that your withholding is reported correctly, we recommend that you submit a W-8BEN form by going to "Manage Account" and then clicking on "Modify My Tax Form".

If you have a U.S. Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN), click on "I have a Tax ID" and fill out the W-8BEN form. If you do not have an ITIN, you will need to obtain one before you can fill out the W-8BEN. If you click the link that says "I do not have a Tax ID", you will be taken to a form that you can submit to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service in order to obtain an Individual Tax Identification Number. Once you receive your ITIN, you can come back to WorldWinner at any time to submit a W-8BEN form.

If you are a U.S. citizen:

WorldWinner is required by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to report when a U.S. player's net winnings (your competition winnings minus non-play credit, real money entry fees for those competitions which resulted in winnings to you) reach $600 in a calendar year. Upon reaching that threshold, you will be asked to a submit a W-9 form. If you choose not to submit a W-9, we are required to withhold 28% of your winnings and send them to the IRS

It is illegal, but no one has challenged them. They are too small.

If I started taking bets from 2 people here for $3 no one would care.

Its not illegal as Sean suggests ... these are deemed games of skill as per their press release when the crappy laws were put in place:

Legality of Skill Games and Fantasy Sports Contests Unchanged by Legislation

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 6, 2006) - Following Saturday's passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), FUN Technologies, (TSX:FUN)(AIM:FUN), one of the world's leading online and interactive casual games providers, announced it would continue to operate business as usual in its FUN Games and FUN Sports divisions. The legislation includes a specific allowance for fantasy sports contests, such as those offered by FUN Sports, and permits online competitions in games of skill, such as those offered by FUN Games, to continue in the U.S. states in which they have always been legal. Skill games have always been legal in the states in which FUN Games operates.

<TABLE class=answerTable cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>The rules governing sweepstakes, contests and tournaments with entry fees or prizes are determined by each individual state, not the federal government. In accordance with these laws, WorldWinner does not offer fee-based tournaments in all states.
We strongly believe that skill-based gaming is different from games of chance. In addition, unlike gambling sites where "the house" is financially involved in the outcome of a game, WorldWinner only serves as a facilitator of tournaments and does not make any money from the outcome of any tournament.
We would encourage you to contact your state legislature if you disagree with your state's policy. The laws in the following states do not currently support skill-based Money tournaments:

I think the site is rigged. I put in like $20 and played Hangman. If I solved a puzzle in 4 seconds, someone would do it in 3.9. If I solved on in 1.3, someone would have 1.1. Always just a tick quicker. I solved a few of them after just a letter or two on the board and still lost.

Hahahaha, you got owned by Hangman experts.

Sounds fun, I might waste a few dollars later myself.

It was fun but I don't think it's possible to win money. I'm damn near unbeatable at Scrabble and I was only winning like 50% of the time at that site against the lower-level guys. Either the site is packed full of experts or something funny is goin on.
