I realize it's late, but I've been off-duty for Sports related work since early March...so sorry if I missed previous postings.

I'd like to participate in a Roto Fantasy MLB league, but don't want to play for real $$$ (sorry to FATTONY...saw your thread)

I plugged into a Yahoo league, but then noticed tonight that of the 12 teams, there's at least four being run under two Yahoo IDs, which is shady IMO.

For me, it's pure diversion from Real Job and Real Daily Grind...I'd like to do it with Rx friends, ala the FBasketball League hosted by SLIM that is nearing conclusion.

I'll never figure out why anyone likes roto. It isnt half as fun as head to head.

Ayuh...not sure which is sadder...a free FBB league being slanted, or ME thinking that a free FBB league could be slanted...heh

About 30 hours a week of my job is on the web and I see cyber ghosts doing all kinds of stuff that boggles the brain

Shoulda posted this search several weeks ago.

But there's nothing worse then having the most points and losing because of schedule. Takes all the skill out of it.

ROB, upon closer examination, (I'm frankly a bit new to all Fantasy games) I can see how Roto is more interesting for Baskets than for MLB.

In Roto baskets, you're essentially allowed 820 "cards" (10 positions x 82 games) you can lay on the table as you see fit over 24 weeks.

You can mix and match certain players at Home (instead of Away) or versus bad defenses etc

In baseball, with the teams playing avg 6 games a week, there's a lot less flex.and whoever you draft and/or trade for is going to make up the bulk of your Results.

SO I'll amend my Search to include a look for fellow Rxers who might have an opening in a Head2Head FBaseball league...

And how is that different from football? I think it takes more skill to play head to head because you have to choose pitching and bench a lot more.

I'm guessing FTONY is reefering more to Baskets than to Football.

I'll echo his reference by noting that I played two leagues in Baskets this past season.

In the H2H league, if you scored it Roto style, I'd be in 5th place out of 10.

But due to the H2H matchups over 21 weeks, I actually finished 8th and was bumped from final "postseason" weeks.

In baskets, you could conceiveably put over 1500 "games" on the floor if you made a couple of FA moves a day with your bottom couple of players.

Thus the limitation on Games Played.

In baseball, you can't do that, because there's only average one day off a week for real life teams.

So there's a bit of strategy for sure working that bottom third of your roster, but far less than baskets.

Thus my initial lean to Roto...but upon reflection, I'll take what I can get as of March freaking 28th....

And I'm not crazy about it in football either. :lolBIG:

I had the most points this year in my football league and came in third. You get one injury late in the season and you're screwed.

I agree about hoops. In hoops it's just a "who has more starts and healthy players contest every week" in head to head.

No other Fantasy sport requires more managing than baseball, IMHO..

Football, is a have a good draft and stay healthy contest, pick up so and so's RB when the starter goes out for the year.

Well we did put a Moves restriction (50) in the H2H baskets league to prevent Overloading starts every week.

I'm the only one that even approached using em all...and I did use all 50...still finished 8th.

Effing Vince Carter took off after the All Star game and David Lee also vanished with a six week "sprained ankle".

thank god it's not Real Life
