Not a good start to the year for breaking the curse when your savior is in Iowa. I hear Prior is none too happy about this as well.

Piniella was never going to put him in the pen...

Prior has not looked good all spring...and Wade Miller beat him out pretty easily...

From a betting standpoint...It would have been nice if Prior landed that 5-spot...would have been great betting against him every 5 days.

I think if Hendry could do it again...he would trade Prior for Tejada...

IMO...Prior will not be much use to the Cubs this season.

Prior may need to take lesson's from Jamie Moyer because I think his arm is going going gone.

Prior was pretty clear about how he felt about this when he kept referring to himself as an "employee" of the Cubs...he also avoided answering questions about if he wanted to stay a Cub.

Cubs control his rights thru 2008.

READ MORE: Mark Prior (P - BOS), Chicago Cubs

After five seasons with the Cubs that were riddled with injuries, the tremendous potential of pitcher Mark Prior fizzled after a season ending shoulder surgery in 2007 officially ended his career with the team. He has since attempted many comebacks in the sport and most recently pitched in the Triple-A for the Boston Red Sox, but was reportedly released on Friday.

Making room for newly acquired right hander, Pedro Beato, the Red Sox released Prior, according to a report from Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times.

During his time in Triple-A Pawtucket, Prior, 31, pitched in just 25 innings with a 3.96 ERA as a reliever before being released. Prior's last performance in the majors came on August 10, 2006 with the Cubs before shoulder tendinitis ended that season.
