Two most overrated "talents" in the history of the Cubbie franchise.

At least Wood is a decent human being. What a great day when that jerk Mark Prior has to eat humble pie and report to Triple A.

Serves him right for verbally bitch slapping the Cardinals over the years.

Have fun in Iowa, Markie. You suck rope.

Wood...is he EVER healthy?

Another losing season for the Cubbies, the NL version of the Texas Rangers. Memo to Cubs' GM: it's all about pitching, not hitting stupid.

It's more sad than humorous, what's happened to those two. Injury problems aren't comical. There's nothing funny about what's happened to Ken Griffey, Jr., who would've gone down as possibly the best outfielder and/or position player in history until he started getting hurt regularly. And this, coming from someone who hated him when he was with Seattle. Now I root for him, because that shit just ain't right.

I hate the Cubs, but it's still sad to see what's happened to these two.

FWIW, I think Ted Lilly will be pretty good in the NL. But fuck the Cubs.

WHen those two came up and were dominating you thought the Cubs future was very bright. But they are the Cubs and reverted back to form and suck. Sad but true.

When Prior was at his peak late in that season when they blew the playoff game 7 vs Florida...he was nearly unhittable...never the same since really.

They need to sue Dusty Baker for ruining their careers. No one's as bad at mismanaging pitchers than that toothpick chewing tard. The one time he shouldn't pull a pitcher early and he ends up losing the world series. I'll be shocked if he ever gets a managerial job ever again.

Their fans are some obnoxious pricks, they think their team is great despite the fact that they always suck.

Of course, much of this is based on having a friend who's a fan, and is annoying as fuck when it comes to the Cubs, so they're easy to hate. But it's also based on encounters with other fans.

They also think they own Chicago and that the White Sox are the ugly red-headed stepsister, which is retarded. It seems like it's a divide between the rich, white Cubs fans and the poor, black/hispanic ChiSox fans, for the most part. Give me the so-called underdog any day.

FWIW, I also hate the Yankees. And the Red Sox. Evil Empire 1a and 1b, despite what Boston fans believe and want you to believe.

It was hard not to think at that point the guy would win multiple Cy Young's. Unreal how his career has gone since.

Prior had more talent his first year in the league than perhaps any pitcher in MLB history. Too bad he can't stay healthy.

Had a 3-0 lead and needed 5 more outs...:ohno:

Still hard to figure Gonzalez butchering that play at short.

Well he will be one of the wealthier guys in Des Moines...

Piniella told him that he was going to have to learn to pitch with what he has...and that ain't much...so maybe he will figure some things out in Iowa.

BTW...I do not believe Prior ever pitched in Arizona until this spring...the Cubs let him do whatever he wanted all offseason and then in AZ. Ironic that he was forced to pitch for that 5 spot and could not beat out Miller. Hendry learned his lesson...and Piniella was not going to count on Prior.

5 years from now...I will be very interested in comparing the career paths of Mark Prior and Anthony Reyes.

Most talent in his first year in history? Off the top of my head I'd take the following pitchers in their rookie or second year over Prior:

Doc Gooden
Jered Weaver
The Babe
Don Drysdale
The Bird
Vida Blue
Ron Guidry
Brett Saberhagen
